Ahmadinejad: Homosexuality Is "Against The Human Spirit"

Ahmadinejad

Remember when Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad addressed a crowd at Columbia University in 2007 telling them the following ridiculous statement?

"In Iran, we don’t have homosexuals like in your country. We don’t have that in our country. In Iran, we do not have this phenomenon. I do not know who has told you that we have it."

Ahmadinejad is at it again, responding to the very justified backlash he received back then: "They asked me (at Columbia) why you crack down on homosexuals in Iran? I answered we don't have so many homosexuals in Iran because we believe this act is against the human spirit and humanity."

If you missed his speech in 2007 watch it, AFTER THE JUMP.

  2. Of course, only a toxic, far-left indoctrination camp like Columbia would have invited him to speak there in the first place.

  4. Is Ahmadinejad's being an ass a surprise to people? He is the President of a country where they stone women to death for being raped and men&women for being gay! It doesn't get any worse then that.

Why was he even invited to speak in US anyhow? Is anything that he might say hold any value what so ever, to academia nevertheless?

  5. so many republicans agree with amidida-crazy

now if he would just accept baby jeebus and make sure all his oil goes to USA oil companies the repubs would make him the best friend of america

  10. Mstrozfckslv, much of what Ahmadinejad says, particularly the anti-Israel and anti-America spew, is standard discourse at Columbia. That's what they wanted, and that's what they endorsed by inviting him. They were more than happy to chuckle off a delusional anti-gay comment to get it, too.

  11. max and all righties

point to 1 democrat that is a anti-semitic nazi

as i said earlier, If amidida- crazy and his god were not so brown and he gave his oil to USA oil companies the repubs would be holding parades in the streets for amidida-crazy

  12. oh well, I guess this is reason enough to invade Iran.
    Lets bring homosexuality to Iran!

In seriousness, "homosexuality" (and heterosexuality) are western definitions. All manner of eastern countries don't define sex or love between two people to require that they have opposite genders.

Rumi was from Persia (that region, not exactly present day Iran). Would you label his relationship as homosexual? Because maybe Iranians wouldnt.

  13. PS

amidida-crazy sells Iranian oil to Russia and china

That is the issue! 99.99999% of repubs say the same damn anti-gay BS amidida-crazy says

  14. @ mstrozfckslv@yahoo.com

You hit the nail on the head.
This whole witch hunt against Iran is simply another oil ploy, plus Israel's bickering.

A war with Iran is guaranteed in the future if a republican president ever comes to power. Palin even talked about "playing the war card" two years ago.

Hopefully Dems have more sensible ways of spending my tax money.

There are some reprehensible laws in Iran (stoning of women accused of adultery etc), but lets not kid ourselves in believing that the US govt or the US army is on a feminist mission, or even a humanitarian mission.

  15. suede

    "israel's bickering" ?

I will disagree with you there especially since the first target of an attacked Iran will be Israel

Iran's rockets can not reach US soil but can reach Us friendly = target= israel

The sane people in israel don't want iran attacked, of course there are some crazys there just like everywhere

    Posted by: mstrozfckslv@yahoo.com | Jan 22, 2011 5:36:12 PM

  16. @mstrozfckslv@yahoo.com

Iran isn't going to attack anyone anytime soon or maybe even ever. The media just wants to sell you the idea, so they can preempt another WMD scenario. Iran even invited delegates to visit their sites, and is doing everything possible to diffuse the situation.

If you've read any of the leaked cables, you'll realize all the warmongering that Israel (and even other arab dictators) are doing.

I'm not sure that there are enough sane people left in Israel. Everything they're doing just points to crazy religious nationalism.

  19. He completely wrong. Gays are quite spirited. In fact, they often have a glass of spirits (with a mixer) in hand.

  20. He has no right to talk about human spirit and humanity when his country still practices stoning to death and public execution.

These people should go back to whatever medieval times they came from.

  22. Did Hitler used to give speeches at Columbia informing sorta-anti-Jewish Americans about the Jews too?

    Oh, great wise Ahmabadperson.

  23. The theocratic administration of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is still reeling from the threats posed by the depth and breadth of the huge mass protests in the summer 0f 2009. Workers, youth and students, women, LGBT folks and anti-theocrats took to the streets by the tens and then hundreds of thousands and although they failed to spark a revolution they're assured of having many more chances.

Ahmadinejad and the mad ayatollahs he answers to failed to make sufficient economic headway after their 1979 islamic counterrevolution to keep public loyalty. Then came the international economic shocks caused by the collapse of the US and EU economies from 2007 on have made their situation worse. The theocrats will fall because they're unfit to rule and are experts at alienating the largest and most powerful sectors on Iran's population.

We can help LGBT folks in Iran, Iraq (where US armed police continue their antigay murder spree) and the region best by continuing the fight to withdraw all US forces from the region and cutting the purse strings of US aid that pays for zionists strategy of ethnic cleansing against Palestinians. And by donating to http://www.irqr.net/ (Iran) and http://iraqilgbt.org.uk/ (Iraq).

  24. I lived in Iran back when they were still one of our allies... and I can attest that there are PLENTY of homosexuals there, or at least were.
The people of Iran are among the most gracious and hospitable I have ever met - unfortunately, their government is a different story.
