Watch: FRC's Tony Perkins vs. GOProud's Chris Barron on CPAC

Perkins_barron

The Family Research Council's lead hater Tony Perkins tells Andrea Mitchell that the CPAC GOProud kerfuffle is about "setting the agenda" for conservatives and he's refusing to go to the conference to debate them because CPAC should be for conservatives only.

GOProud's Chris Barron clucks that their group has the same position on marriage as Dick Cheney and that Perkins just hates them because they're gay.

  1. ..and what the HELL happened to journalism?? Andrea Mitchell SHOULD have said to Miss Toni "Tennille" Perkins the following: "Tony, why do keep mentioning 'families' and the redefining of said families? Don't you realize that gay people come form families? That they have mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents? Don't you realize that by demonizing gay people you are actually HURTING American families ???? "

True journalism is DEAD folks. RIP.

  2. The nation is falling into a depression and these bigots are still concerned about who should be allowed to marry. They have lost touch with America.

  4. what a parade of buffoons! This is a great example of how two individuals can make the entire human race look stupid.

  5. GoProuds Chris Barron has been everywhere talking about how much republicans love gays and now he's saying they are against gays. He makes me sick, i'm glad to be a democrat.

  6. Tony Perkins is afraid to go to CPAC because he might not be able to control his bottled up urges around Chris Barron. Who I have to say if it weren't for the complete cognitive dissonance and total lack of self-awareness as well as just total stupidity would be quite a catch.

  7. They kind of look alike, don't they?

  8. May I suggest to Mr Perkins that he use Rep. Christopher Lee of NY as a example of what Straight Marriage stands for. He would be the perfect example.

  10. yea, cheney's real pro-marriage equality

  11. These two even look alike. I think they're the same person. GOProud is not really different in essence from FRC, only the identity of their victims differs, but their policy solutions are the same.

The good news is that Barron has succeeded in exposing conservatives for what they really are.

  12. Next week, Andrea will have the KKK on to discuss Loving v Virginia.

  13. While I certainly appreciate GOProud exposing the moronism of FRC and other similar hate groups, Barron's ignorant rhetoric of "let the people decide marriage equality" really made me cringe. Is he clueless as to what the purpose of the separation of powers is? Equality should NEVER be put to popular vote. When are these GOProud and Log Cabin internalized homophobes going to realize that embracing conservative fiscal policies to supposedly pay lower taxes comes at an amazing equality cost to all gay Americans?

  19. "Let the people of the states decide"?? Is Chris Barron serious?? Does he realize that if we let people of the states vote on issues of equality that some states would STILL not allow things like integrated marriage?? Or equal rights for women?? Those things were VASTLY UNPOPULAR among the people when the government and judicial system stepped in to end the nonsense. What nonsense this "GOProud" member spews.

  20. What happened to Chris Barron's face?

  21. If the people decided on equality their would still be blacks in the south picking cotton right now.

  22. Interviewing hate group leaders on news programs as if they have a legit viewpoint HAS GOT TO STOP.

If MSNBC's discussing race relations, would they have a Neo-Nazi leader on to discuss a viewpoint?

Regarding Cheney being pro marriage-rights; It's only because he has a gay daughter. Like most conservatives, he has no empathy. They only get on board with stuff when they specifically have experience with it. They can't look at things from other's point of view.

note: I do give the Cheney's some credit though. Their daughter was comfortable enough to come out to them - and they openly support her.
