"We will stand up for other rights with you. We will treat you with love and reverence." he says.
I doubt very much that it will ever happen.

Traditional marriage, as defined in the Old Testament was between a man and one or more women. I don't remember where God (who presumably set that one forth) shortened it to one man, one woman.
This cardinal is merely a good soldier doing a bigoted pope's bidding. I think 60 minutes interviewed him to show the hypocrisy of his position.

Celebrate Easter in front of St. Patrick's Cathedral in Manhattan by collecting petition signatures to NY State Senators to pass the marriage equality bill.
We'll be there all morning.

They are all fat, smug, self satisfied ( because they are saved and we are going to hell) and bigoted.
These horrors say all that need to be known about the poison of religion.

This is the same church that includes rituals that all their Nuns get married to Jesus.

Just one more nail in the coffin called "the roman catholic church".

They'd better give a heads-up to the "Consecrated Virgins", one of the oldest sacramentals in the Catholic church, before going apeshit that THE definition of marriage is "between a man and a woman, for having children".

What he does or does not believe his God has set forth should have absolutely no bearings on my civil rights. If he wanted to discuss social policy based on academically reviewed social research maybe he would have something valid to say.

I would like to know why the hierarchy of the Roman Catholic church is not vocally opposed to divorce and agitating to make divorce illegal. Outlawing divorce would ensure that opposite-sex marriage would be one man and one woman forever. (And Newt Gingrich, John McCain, Donald Trump and others would still all be married to their first--now abandoned--wives.) Divorce has done more harm to the institution of marriage than same-sex marriages ever will.

Thing is most of the catholics I know are amongst the best educated and most liberal folk I know.
(especially compared to the born again crowd and evangelicals)
the archbishop really should get wise about his own parishoners most of whom long ago learned not to have any problems with gays, but all of them are disgusted with their church over its handling of the peodophile issue and many of them are genuinly frightened about the safety of their children around catholic clergy.

The catholic church will do anything to take the media glare away from their latest child-buggering antics

What a bumbling buffoon! How did this Bozo ever get to be a cardinal? Oh, the Catholic hierarchy never fails to generate gales of laughter!

The Roman Church has no rocks to throw spritually, morally, ethically, or humanly. The hierarchy is the blanket that tries to hide the fact that this institution is the greatest sexual abuser of children scarring them for life. I am amazed at one verse in the New Testament that say "many will loose their faith (in the end???) only to find out that the reason is the hypocrisy and empty example of the teachings of Jesus, its founder.

The only thing more remarkable than Catholic clergy criticizing anyone's sexuality is what subtly, twisted things they reveal about themselves every time they open their flabby liver lips.

THIS is the HEADLINE:
NY Archbishop: No Civil RIGHT to Second Marriage!!
Here is the quote from interview: "Marriage by nature...Marriage by definition is between a man and a woman for LIFE; giving children. Don't tamper with the definition....
It IS a right to those who can live up to those expectations-that are just encoded in the definition.
It is not a right to those who can't."
So the Church is saying that barring death, a man and a woman have a right to a ONE TIME marriage after that you no longer have a right to marry but perhaps a civil union may be applicable.

Oh, shut up bigot. WTF do YOU know about marriage? The ONLY thing you and your church know about is abusing children!
