Miami Shores Village Council candidate Jesse Walters, whose campaign was targeted earlier this week by a vandal who left anti-gay and obscene graffiti on a large number of his yard signs, won his election last night:
"With four of the council's five seats at stake, incumbent Prospero G. Herrera II came in fifth out of seven candidates. Former Mayor Jim McCoy led the field with 808 votes, according to unofficial returns. Re-elected were incumbents Hunt Davis, with 739 votes and Stephen Loffredo, with 736 votes. Newcomer Jesse Walters received 681 votes, edging out Herrera's 612."
