Donald Trump: Obama Didn't Write His First Book

Trump
Donald Trump brought his phony hint of a presidential run to a "tea party" rally in Boca Raton, Florida. In his speech to the crowd, Trump bashed Obama over his birth certificate (natch) and also questioned whether ot not he actually authored his first memoir, Dreams From My Father. Said Trump: "The man that wrote the second book didn’t write the first book...The difference was like chicken salad and chicken s**t."

Why are we supposed to believe Trump? As he told the crowd in Florida, apparently because he knows "a lot about books." Characteristically outlandish soundbites from the speech (via CNN) are AFTER THE JUMP.

Also, Talking Points Memo cornered Trump and asked him about the progress in his birther investigation. He didn't have much to say.

"I've looked very closely and have continued to look. I'm not going to say anything further than that, but we've looked all around and we are continuing to look and it's very interesting and that's all I can say."

Trump ended the interview after being questioned about whether he himself is paying private detectives to look into Obama's birth certificate in Hawaii. Watch that clip, AFTER THE JUMP.

  2. OK, I am not licensed to practice psychiatry, but this man is either crazy or stupid. Maybe both. Sadly neither one of these traits seems out of place in American politics today.

  3. He's just feeding his ego and addiction to attention.
He doesn't care that he's embarrassing himself. The man is a disgrace!

  4. Just goes to show that "image" and what you think is, really is not true.

I used to think Donald Trump was a real businessman, with a sane mind and good business sense.

Now with all his LUNATIC behavior and CRAZY rants, I pretty sure he's just another person who needs the guys in the white coats to take him to Bellevue.

The guy with the little hair has gone on the deep end.

How PERFECT for the TEA BAGGERS!

  5. Please, please, please, Andy -- STOP reporting on this orange-faced, fat, fake, anus-mouthed moron. Actually, after that description, how can you not?!

Really, though, he's not worth the wasted megabytes it takes to follow this putrid waste of space.

  7. Trump is supposed to be a bottom line type of guy. And the bottom line is that Obama is President.

I guess he thinks whining is as good as winning.

  8. Typical of the craziest form of the right. They don't talk about any solutions, any plan, any kind of idea or concept they have to bring to the table. They can only slam the other side and hope to gain ground by doing so.

Frump is the poster child for trust-fund idiocy run rampant.

  11. Slate is running an interesting article about Trump. Apparently he wrote in his book "The America We Deserve" (published back in 2000) that we should have nationalized health care. Too funny.

  13. He is the "Donald Trump" of narcissists - the biggest, showiest, overblown, and over-the-top narcissist of all time.

A mark of a narcissist is that everything is stated in relationship to himself. "I am a best-selling author, so I..." or "I am very smart, so I...."

He needs more and more "fixes" of attention. He has milked all he can out of the business world, so he moved on to the entertainment world. As the novelty is ending on the apprentice, he needs a new vein of media attention - politics. After this, what?

  14. He's nuts, period.

But also to point out: I know a lot about ghost-writing, too, and I would guess that fewer than 5% of all celebrity books were written by their alleged authors with no ghosting. This would include most major political figures. President Obama is known to be a good writer, and I'd always exempted him from the "they didn't write it" category.

But regardless, there is NO WAY. None. That Donald Trump wrote his books. So what is his point?

And does anyone believe Trump actually read those books, or makes time to read ANY books? Look at his lifestyle (not even venturing into the "he's an idiot" territory)—when is he reading books?

  17. He's right. President Obama's famous book 'Dreams of my father' was ghost written.

But I agree Trump is a clown and a total 3 dollar bill.

  18. I have a dumb question? Has Trump personally ask to see Obama's birth certificate? In most states, that is the ONLY way he is going to see it. If he's doing anything other than that, he probably does only have an IQ of 13.

    Posted by: Garst | Apr 17, 2011 4:52:49 PM

  19. What is he plotting? You can't deny that the man is a schemer. So what is the end-game for this craziness?

  20. I don't know what world most of the posters here live in, but President Obama is no longer the rock star he was in 2008. The love is gone. REGARDLESS of Donald Trump, he has a serious uphill re-election battle.

Anyone who won the 2008 election was probably going to have a very serious time getting re-elected because no matter what a president of congress does between then and 2012, it won't be enough to fix the terrible situation we're in. Most people know, regardless of some fudged economic statistics, that the economy is not getting appreciably better. Presumably the Democratic Party leadership were and are aware of all this? I think the Republicans deliberately threw the election.

And Trump is a fraud, but far from dumb and having a low I.Q.

  22. We, as a nation, are going through hard times, a recession, and near depression (mainly due to Bush policies). Nothing on jobs, the wars, the poor. Donald Trump's political prowess is centered on Obama's Birth Certificate and Obama's first book! LOL

  23. Pretty sad that this blog continues to pay attention to this idiot! I am not a doctor but he clearly shows signs of Narcissistic personality disorder! His reality show isn't doing so well so the best way to bring attention to himself is by talking non sense! and we are ALL falling for it!

  24. Is he trying to punk the whole Teaklan movement? Seriously, I'm starting to think his intention is to hijack the Teatards - if not the entire Republican Party - and crash it into a ditch.

He certainly can't have much use for that bunch of trailer trash.
