FOX News Chair Roger Ailes Installed Bombproof Glass in His Office for Fear of Attacks by Gay Activists

From Rolling Stone's profile on FOX Chair Roger Ailes and how he built the FOX News fear factory:

Ailes Murdoch installed ailes in the corner office on Fox’s second floor at 1211  Avenue of the Americas in Manhattan. The location made Ailes queasy: It was  close to the street, and he lived in fear that gay activists would try to  attack him in retaliation over his hostility to gay rights. (In 1989, Ailes had broken up a protest of a Rudy Giuliani speech by gay activists, grabbing demonstrator by the throat and shoving him out the door.) Barricading himself behind a massive mahogany desk, Ailes insisted on having “bombproof glass” installed in the windows – even going so far as to personally inspect samples of high-tech plexiglass, as though he were picking out new carpet. Looking down on the street below, he expressed his fears to Cooper, the editor he had tasked with up-armoring his office. “They’ll be down there protesting,” Ailes said. “Those gays.”

  12. Weren't Hitler, Sadam or Stalin--actually any despot--a paranoid hate monger? They basically know what they'd do to someone, so they think the rest of the world would do it to them first. Mentally unstable.

  13. Since culinary arts are a known stereotypical gay profession, I wonder if he employs a food taster? Although he hasn't much hair, perhaps someday a gay stylist may slit his throat. A gay nurse or doctor may inject him with lethal drugs. Let's face it my paranoid Mr. Ailes, if a gay activist wanted to do you harm or take your life there is little you can do to prevent it. But I'm glad you live in fear.

  14. This is a scary article and a recommended 'must-read'. You know the saying- "keep your friends close, but your enemies closer" don't ya?

This is a great insight into the mind of the far right and what we're up against in the battle for equality in America. He has a lot of power now and is a formidable enemy for progressives.

Calling him names and fobbing bitchy scenarios is NOT the solution. Knowing who your enemy is - and this man has an agenda that is NOT in the best interest of the country.

  15. Yes, because 'the gays' are so known for bombing places.

    Project much, Roger??

  18. Wouldn't want to let those gays get too close. He'd be in danger of getting some glitter on his fat ass. What would he tell his children?

  19. Roger Ailes and Dick Cheney are the world's two most successful terrorists, as long as they are alive, I cannot with any truth say that there is nobody I would wish dead.

    Posted by: Steerpike | May 28, 2011 10:20:49 AM

  20. Yeah, he knows that his career he has built is based on genocidal-style dishonesty and the lies the Faux-News perpetuates and creates amount to terrorism.

So he expects those he personally perseucutes to give him terrorism right back. VERY TELLING.

But, no, dude, we're NOT going to bomb you. That's not who WE are. That's who YOU and your ilk are. You're confused, dude, not everyone is like YOU.

But we ARE going to expose you.

If FOX NEWS wants to even create the APPEARANCE of objectivity, Roger Ailes should be FIRED immediately.

As it is, Roger Ailes' public gay-hating views AND outrageous accusations (that we are trying to bomb him) are just ANOTHER notorious example of how Fox News deserves ZERO CREDIBILITY.

I would be satisfied with thorough-going reform at Fox News, starting with firing Roger Ailes. But HATE has been what the network trades in, so I'm not holding my breath.

  21. Oh yeah,
So who are Faux News' biggest advertizers?

Honorable Americans should boycott them, too.

  24. CARIBTONY, you'd have to be really dumb to not know all of that stuff allready. The left knows this but what they do with it, who knows. They never like to confront the right and always take the 'we're so smart and superior, just ignore them'.

    Well that certainately doesn't help.
