CNN Speaks to Kevin Rogers, Who Exposed Tracy Morgan's Anti-Gay Rant on Facebook: Video
CNN reports on Tracy Morgan's homophobic stand-up rant, which was exposed by photographer Kevin Rogers on his Facebook page. Rogers speaks with CNN about Morgan's show.
Morgan apologized this afternoon:
“I want to apologize to my fans and the gay & lesbian community for my choice of words at my recent stand-up act in Nashville. I’m not a hateful person and don’t condone any kind of violence against others. While I am an equal opportunity jokester, and my friends know what is in my heart, even in a comedy club this clearly went too far and was not funny in any context.”
Watch, AFTER THE JUMP...

Apology not accepted...

Funny how it's okay for a black comedian to "push the envelope" by using violence against gays in a routine- now if a white comedian were to suggest killing blacks is funny his career would be over in an instant.

substitute "black" for "gay" in all Mr. Morgan's comments then see if he accepts your statement that you aren't a violent person ... your friends know the real you... the fact this is not his first anti gay "comedy" routine is a good indication of how sincere this jerk's apology is.

That response was such a non event.
I feel that if Morgan had any conviction
he would defend his comments. Put your money where your mouth is.

I have had trouble linking to the petition requesting that NBC Universal fire this homophobe. Perhaps Towleroad could post the link? JeffR

You can't apologize for that. I really hope Tina Fey and NBC do the right thing here, or I'll completely lose respect for one of the few people in show business who I thought it was worth looking up to.

So, Tracy, instead of stabbing your gay son, what might be a more appropriate response from someone who is "not a hateful person"?

yeah, yeah, Tracy's a jerk, but damn this guy is cute. Woof.

Apology not accepted, it's PR.
To say you would stab your son is not just a poor choice of words. These are the kind of words expected from hate and homophobia.

This is not the first time for Morgan, so, yes, we do know what's in his heart. Wouldn't you love to meet the guy who writes all these apology letters for these "celebrity" assholes. Know it wasn't Morgan. I have it on good authority that he's virtually illiterate and has to have his scripts read to him.

Well it sure seems that the American people will believe anything at all if it is simply repeated often enough. I'm disappointed.

I'll never watch another episode of 30 Rock as long as Tracy Morgan appears on the show. He's only sorry for having possibly damaged his career - he doesn't regret the hatred and bigotry he spewed on stage.

...And for those dismissive of the implications of hate speech: I'm 61 years old, and have studied history: so I have the long view.
Hate speech inevitably leads to a body count -- always has, and always will.
Frankly, I don't want to be on the side cheering on the body count.
The cheerleaders reveal themselves for who they are, and they're bloodsoaked.

That this happens in the entertainment industry in this day and age leaves me almost speechless. Hey, but listen up, stupid Tracy Morgan. Why don't you go back to the plantation fields or get lynched? Like that? Then don't wish harm to gay people, stupid hypocrite.

He promotes the very worst stereotypes of black men.

You're right Paul R. That has always been said about us by white men.
One person says something and now it's ALL BLACK MEN?

Tracy Morgan spoke of mentally challenged kids like they are animals and that their mothers men shouldn't date. I have a daughter who has Kabuki Syndrome who is mentally challenged. I would love if he spent a whole day with her and he could see how much love and joy she brings to others each day. There is a purpose for each kid with special needs and he really after being with her would see what he said is wrong. I am not against him, just feel he needs to live the reality to know what goes on.
