Pat Robertson Says God Will Destroy America Over Same-Sex Marriage: VIDEO

Following a segment on the New York marriage equality vote, Pat Robertson warned that America is becoming Sodom and will suffer the same fate of destruction, Right Wing Watch reports.

Says robertson: "In history, there has never been a civilization that has embraced homosexuality and turned away from traditional fidelity, traditional marriage, traditional child-rearing and has survived. There isn't one single civilization that has survived...So you say, 'what’s going to happen to America?' If history is any guide, the same thing is going to happen to us."

  1. Pat Robertson Says God Will Destroy America Over Same-Sex Marriage

    Promises promises.

  2. ALL civilizations come to an end eventually. Blaming the fall of a civilization on acceptance of gays is like blaming the end of a civilization on the acceptance of Christianity. What does he think? America will go on forever as long as we are superstitious bigots?

  3. Not Slavery, Hiroshima, or Donna Trump's RIDICULOUS wig... but Gay Marriage, that's the one. WTFEB!

  4. Why is anything that this senile hate-monger even reported? It isn't news that he hates diversity of any kind and that he has neo-facists beliefs. We shouldn't even have to read this kind of crap -- he is a non-important person with unimportant ideas and should be simply ignored by the media -- ESPECIALLY the LGBT media!

  5. of COURSE he says that. He's *always* saying that.

And Mr. Robertson is no anthropologist. There are societies in the world that have been stable for hundreds of years that practice all sorts of things and Jebus hasn't used the "smite" key *once* on them.

  6. Well, to amend that slightly...

"In history, there has never been a civilization that has... survived."

All civilizations fall. All of 'em. Always. Then, sooner or later, they might rise again.

Roman Empire? Fall. Byzantine? Fall. Ottoman? Fall. British, French, Russian, Austro-Hungarian? Fall, fall, fall, fall. U.S.? Yep, at some point it will fall.

But not because of Marriage Equality.

  7. If this means that "God" is gonna tell all of his wingnuts to flee America now then I'm all for it.

  8. what, again? This is the sort of drooling jibberish that is the result of trying to talk while your head is exploding.

  9. Uhhh, Pat, the ones you know of didn't survive because people like you destroyed them, so is this a threat?

  10. How long does Gawd wait before he smites a country? Spain is still there. The Netherlands has had marriage equality for over 10 years now....still standing. Norway, Sweden... doing great. What is the big DESTRUCTOR waiting for?
Pat, you hateful unchristian thieving idiot. STFU.

  11. I agree with previous comments. I've always stood in resolute defense of Andy posting whatever he likes, but I would rather read about a dog learning to bark than I would about any religious nutjob's rants about what abominations we are. It isn't news. It isn't interesting. And it's mildly depressing for those raised in religious backgrounds (not me) or who have born again parents (me).

Yes we can skip over it, but why bother posting it in the first place? Hate-mongers are the most predictable, uninteresting topic I can imagine. Religion is a poison, and while I understand that some people have been immersed in it since birth and others feel a need to know the enemy, this stuff writes itself. How many stories and comments do we need to see saying STFU to the pope, the christians, the pat robertsons, etc.? They don't care about me; I don't care about them. If there's a hell (HA!), they'll be the ones there, not me. I wish they'd start booking tickets now.

In 20-30 years few people will understand why anyone cared about these abominations, much less gave them money. They are evil, greedy frauds. Andy, do you post this kind of stuff simply to get a rise out of people?

  12. Yes, yes Pat. Your pal Harold Camping has already told us the date(s) the world will end.
    God's rathe. Blah blah blah.

  13. yes Pat...just like the rapture that didn't happen last month....dolt.

  14. Yup, all civilizations do fall... Usually when religion gets involved in politics.

They are their own self-fulfilling prophecy!!

I wish Pat Robertson and his child-slavery/diamond mining operations in Liberia would fall - #$%&@#*! Pedophile!

  16. Remember though, that he is talking to people who do not comprehend that there is marriage equality in lots of places around the world that are doing just fine with it. He is appealing to people so ignorant and shortsighted that we would never be able to stoop to argue with. He himself is not stupid, however. He has made a massive tax free fortune off of people with barely sense enough to call in and give their credit card numbers to him, so obviously hes a fu&*ing genius.

  17. Patty, dear. God already destroyed America because she put YOU on the screen.

  18. His paramount bigotry aside, my question is where does Pat get his suits? He's like a 40 Short swimming in a 48 Long jacket! Honestly, it's like watching him shrink in relevance and size right before our very eyes.

Posted by: Neal Blevins | Jun 27, 2011 1:28:00 PM

  19. What galls me is this, from a "biblical" perspective he's still utterly wrong. The story of Sodom contains not ONE mention of homosexuality. NOT ONE. The only way one could interpret it as that would be if one therefore believes that had the (genderless) "Angels" that appeared at Lot's door looked like women, God would have been fine with them being gang-raped by an "angry mob of perverts". "the crowd wanted to have sex with the angels that looked like men!"
....meaning if they looked like women it would have been just fine? God hates gang-rape unless it's performed on a woman?

Interestingly, Ezekiel 16 makes it explicitly clear that the "sin of Sodom" was greed and selfishness. The people had money and food and supplies and yet did not shared with those who had little or nothing.

So, what does that mean? It means the real "Sodomites" of America are indeed the rich and greedy who don't want to pay higher taxes, who don't believe in Universal Healthcare - those that have it all and do not give most of it away to those who have nothing.

    Basically, the GOP.

  21. it's amazing to me that we have evolved this far and dumb asses like Robertson still exist. I mean seriously.

    Posted by: Justin | Jun 27, 2011 1:34:32 PM

  22. To quote Bill Maher who was quoting someone else, I'm sure someone here knows who it was, Pat, God always answers prayer and sometimes the answer is no. The vote has been cast, the decision made, the issue settled. Now, get the to a closet and take it up with me in private.
