Gay Activists to Protest Chick-Fil-A Opening in Hollywood
A new Chik-Fil-A restaurant is opening at 6750 W. Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood on Saturday, and activists angry over the company's anti-gay policies will be there for it:
Bring your own signs, banners, and flyers to educate the public of the virulently anti-gay policies and donations of this bigoted corporation. They actively suppress gay rights and the rights of anyone who isn't Right-wing Christianist. A coalition of LGBT people, gay rights organizations, animal rights organizations, and other progressive, fair-minded organizations and people are forming a coalition to protest this store making MILLIONS in OUR community for their bigoted "cause". Come one, come all - and STAND UP FOR JUSTICE, DIGNITY, and EQUALITY!!
Some background here.

On the plus side, Angelinos will now be able to enjoy the wonderful awesomeness of Chik-Fil-A sandwiches.
Look, if a Chik-Fil-A sandwich costs $5.00, and 5c of that goes to combat gay rights, then I can eat there every week and I will only have given $2.50 to evil over the course of the year. That's beyond negligeable, compared with the excellence of those sandwiches.
Oh, and what Dan said @1!

Thanks for the heads up. I'll be sure to eat at Chick-fil-a for breakfast AND lunch on Saturday.

I really think this is a non issue.. I live a block away. I'll be sure to check it out on Saturday

Hollywood is not all glam... so where does this location stack up?
You gotta wonder if they're aren't thinking 2 steps ahead & welcome the free publicity that might come their way.
ps: ain't it always curious how self-hating some gay people can be, closeted or not... Yeah, I'm gonna fund my own discrimination. Well, thanks gawd for natural selection & the fact that you'all won't be reproducing!

I was actually pretty surprised to see Neal Patrick Harris tweet about his excitement over the opening, considering that chick-fil-a has done a lot of things to try and insure that marriages like the one he is presumably enjoying don't happen for anyone else....

The next time I set foot in a Chick-fi-la it will be for their annual Cow Appreciation Day. I will be dressed as Maggie Gallagher.

I find it more curious how some gay people can't think for themselves and buy into the gay status quo. Well, thanks gawd for bloggers to tell you what to do!

Dude, Pete, I give a ton of cash to a variety of gay rights organizations, and even more value in the time and effort I put into one or two of them. I get a pass on my Chick-Fil-A habit. In fact, anyone who contributes more than $5 or $10 a year gets a pass.
Would it be nice if they changed their Christian fundamentalist business model? Yes, but more because that would mean they were open on Sunday than because of their anti-gay advocacy.

I really don't understand how anyone would put any money into a corporation that was looking to put nails in the coffins of any group let alone the LGBTQ world. I really try and search out where my money really goes and it isn't that hard at all to do. ChiKfila will do what it will do and they will do it "in the name of God." But to those naysayers and homophobes that think this is a non-issue rest up, they'll find a reason to come for you next.

I have to choose my battles in life and this just isn't one of them. There are FAR more important and pressing issues that should be getting peoples attention and money than protesting a fast food restaurant. Get. A. Life. ps...LOVE Chick-fil-a! ! !

Funny how people actually are critical of those who choose not to spend their money at a business that actively discriminates against who they are behind the scenes.

I will not be eating there.

Can someone please enlighten me as to what Chick-Fil-A did? I've done research and all I can find is that they provided free food to a luncheon held by an anti-gay group.
Is that what the boycott is about? Catered food? Please tell me there's more. Because if there's not, I will continue eating them guilt free.

Please, Mary Francis. "Actively discriminates" would mean that if gay people walk in the front door, they'd refuse to serve them. That doesn't happen.
Chick-fil-a's anti-gay discrimination has been highly exaggerated by professional victims and seems to get further inflated each time it's passed to the next gay blog like a bad game of Telephone.

Can't say I'm surprised in the least by the majority of posts here. Although so many of the usual Towleroad trolls never disappoint with their stupidity, there seems to be quite a few new names here.
I see Chik-Fil-A not only spends their money to destroy LGBT people, they also stimulate the economy by paying people to comment-bomb LGBT sites.
For all the people insisting they'll eat there all the time, be my guest. You'll cut your life shorter by doing so and we'll be well rid of you.

Haha, professional victim AND conspiracy theorist... how not shocking.
Posted by: asdf | Sep 22, 2011 12:37:11 PM
OH PLEASE: How I WISH CFA would pay me! Dear you are assuming they care what this blog says. They will exist with or without LGBT activists eating at their restaurants.
ps...these "new names" may be new but they are NAMES non the less and not hiding behind some anonymous nickname.

If Chick-Fil-A wants to waste their money on bigoted activism that will ultimately be ruled unconstitutional, it's up to them.
Posted by: Ezam | Sep 22, 2011 12:54:13 PM
So, if you go to the facebook page in the blog post, it has links to stories from the New York Times, Time magazine, etc., reporting that Chick-fil-a has given millions of dollars over the years to right wing causes, including hate groups like Focus on the Family. It wasn't just a one-time catering event.
I used to go there weekly and now don't. Their food really isn't that great, and there are always other options. It isn't a big deal. I just don't want to knowingly spend my money at a place that donates to anti-gay causes. How simple is that?

Gay people who eat chickfila are also members of Exodus International and GOProud.

@phillip: HAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHA really, as if your "name" with out a last name and address is not anonymous.
Kids these days, I'm tellin' ya. I've never eaten here and never will.
I'm pretty sure these "new" names are the same person over and over. There can't be THAT many dumb people who care so much to comment positively about supporting a company that hates them. Also, for those of you who lack research skills, the owner has released a statement that they are a religious organization that follows the word of the bible and other jibba jabba.

Again...Gay people really need to be justified by a chicken sandwich restaraunt? That sounds pretty pathetic to me...so sad. I feel sorry for you.
