1. Matt in PDX says

It’s true! Legalizing same-sex marriage will cause opposite-sex marriage to disappear completely. Just like how women getting the right to vote caused men to stop voting completely, and how blacks getting the right to sit at lunch counters caused whites to stop eating lunch.

  2. SFshawn says

This pastor needs to be put out to pasture.
These are our “HOLY” men in 2012?
What a pathetic excuse for a man of GAWD!
Tax the church! Tax the Church! Tax the Church!

  3. Dan says

If this buffoon is heading up the anti marriage charge, than equality in WA is going to be perfectly safe. Extreme rhetoric like this might work in Florida, Texas, etc, but it’s never resonated here in the Northwest.

Keep on bleating, you rapidly deflating gasbag.

  4. Strepsi says

You forgot to print his full name:

Pastor Ken “I’m a Down Low closet case and I hate myself, so I project that hatred onto others, unlike what Jesus would do” Hutcherson.

  5. uoftexex says

John Wilkes Booth tried to put a bullet in the head of slavery, instead he just killed a man. Maybe Gregoire’s hypothetical bullet will kill this man; let’s pray on it.

  6. Ricco says

Using the “N” word, or the “F” word is considered politically incorrect, but sometimes, as an apt descriptor, the most unsavory words best describe the most unsavory of people.

It is not only gays getting married that this awful man hopes to prohibit. He also teaches his congregation that people should be able to fire gays for their orientation, or be hired, in the first place, that a landlord should be able to evict a tenant on the basis of their homosexuality, or refuse to rent to them, and he thinks gays should be denied health insurance.

I try not to waist one second in my day thinking about this hateful lunatic, because much more troubling things, than the N” word springs from my mouth when I do.

  7. Jerry6 says

I agree with the Pastor. We have to get back many traditions of the Church that have been abolished. The traditions of “Burning At The Stake” for plasphemy (sp); “Breaking Legs and Arms on The Rack” for believing that the planet goes around the Sun; All of the “SINS” of Leviticus that warrant Death as the punishment. (Including “Putting aside” a wife to marry another woman.) (Be careful, politicians running for Office.)

  8. Jerry6 says

Come on, people. The real reason these pastors are against Gay Marriage is that most Gays will not produce children to be raised to go to Church and PUT MONEY IN A COLLECTION BASKET every Sunday so the Pastor does not have to get a productive job to feed himself.

  9. Seriously?Y says

As someone who actually gets out of the Ghetto and spends time with the majority of faith leaders who support LGBT rights, who see Marriage rights as intrinsic to our humanity. I know a lot of you are deeply wounded by the vocal idiocy of folks like this (both in the press and in your own families and upbringings) but do me a favor: stop assuming all faith leaders (or those of faith) are against you. These guys are the minority. So stop lumping all of them together.

It would be like saying: All gay folks are promiscuous drug addicted disco dancing effeminate pansies.

Please, recognize that these folks are the last dying gasp of hatred. They’re like a cornered snake. Striking out, and making a lot of noise.

  10. Stuart says

Except no one is attacking all religions in this thread – we are attacking this man and his congregation.

“Please, recognize that these folks are the last dying gasp of hatred”

You need to realize that these people are by far much more cohesive and skillful in their craft than their “unitarian” counterparts. Not only are they more numerous, but they also know how to push their bigotry.

It’s easy to say that “you are exaggerating, guys” when you are not part of a group that is stigmatized every single day by religions. Of course many of us are going to harbor (not “wounded” as you condescendingly said) disdain towards it as a whole.

  11. redball says

@Seriously?Y: BEAUTIFULLY SAID. I especially like the snake analogy (which I just realized has yet another level to it because snakes also have a connotation of evil, in English at least).

  12. Markus says

Keep it up Hutcherson. Your hate speech doesn’t fly in Washington anymore. You are only helping to pass the measure. There will be a day when this evil man has to move to a more hateful state. And I will say good riddance to a horrible man. Although i wouldn’t wish him on any state.

  13. pdxblueyes says

OK – Asshat. IF Marriage is such a sacred institution, why is YOUR race so loath to commit to it? I mean baby daddies and baby mamas all OVER the place – and nobody but US, the taxpayers – need i remind you both GAY and straight – to pay to take care of them. Want to save marriage? Want to preserve the sanctity of this holy union? Want to save families and children? Than shut your piehole and work within YOUR community to outlaw divorce, to outlaw spousal abuse and to outlaw deadbeat parents. I think you jumped in this race, because now, its YOUR turn as the oppressed to be the oppressor. Clean up your own back yard before you start telling me how to clean up mine.

  14. says

For those of you who are getting the Rob McKenna for Governor ad (I suspect only WA IP addresses), please be sure to click the ad: support Andy by spending this anti-marriage bigot’s campaign money.

  15. Kenneth says

Interesting, if not completely backwards, analogy coming from a black man. JWB put a bullet in the head of the man who changed the tradition and practice of slavery, not the one trying to preserve it. By his reasoning, he himself is like John Wilkes Boothe, trying to put a bullet in the head of those who would change a tradition which, like slavery, holds that one group of people is less than those of the majority.

  16. Rev Cheryl Wallace says

Pastor Ken I think your testimonies have been the VERY BEST testimonies given against the same sex marriage bill HB2516! Thank You for stepping out front on this issue for GOD and the Body of Christ! Thank You.
