Watch The Full Pilot Episode of NBC's 'Smash' Now: VIDEO

Smash

I've posted a few times about the upcoming NBC Broadway behind-the-scenes drama Smash, starring Debra Messing, Anjelica Huston, former American Idol contestant Katherine McPhee and Broadway star Megan Hilty, as well as Kate Clinton.

But the pilot episode is online already, and you can watch it, AFTER THE JUMP...

  1. It's also ondemand on Timewarner so you can watch with full sound picture on your home theater, which I recommend.

Before you ask, I don't know about other systems cause I only have timewarner in my house. Be curious, poke around.

  2. I can say I saw the episode last week and was not impressed. One or two gay stereotypes and the episode focuses mostly on a lecherous broadway director and two wanna be broadway female stars. Not much there to right home about and should appeal to a small group of viewers. It is being touted as competition to Glee but I just don't see it.

  3. The publicity still makes it look like the gals are walking into an adult video store on Eighth Avenue between 45th & 46th Streets.

    Jus' sayin', is all.

  4. Comparing this to Glee is like comparing ER to Scrubs. This show will be epic.

  5. Yes, the production numbers are enjoyable and nicely done and there are some nice touches - such as KM imagining she is singing to her boyfriend during one of her numbers (which, I can only imagine, is exactly what performers do). But the "book" so to speak was rather week for episode 1. It felt slightly dated and stereotyped. But let's give them a chance to work out the kinks. There are a ton of talented people involved with this - let's home they prove their worth.

  6. We saw this at the Chicago premier last month and everyone loved it. It's so different from Glee that both can exist. SMASH is more mature and the talent is amazing. I wouldn't call either gay character a stereotype.

  7. For network TV, it was hands-down great. I want more.

  8. There's enough here that I'll tune in. My partner was a Broadway performer so I know he'll be watching. But I'll also admit that I wasn't exactly overwhelmed like I wanted to be. Still, certainly entertaining enough.

  9. All the world can hope for is that this dreck has a blessedly short run.
