Unless you throw away the bible, in which case you aren't a Christian anymore, I don't see how his "followers" can become more accepting of gays. I wish it were as simple as outing a christian athlete but it's not.

I am not a football (or any televised sport) fan so I'd never seen Tim Tebow speak. But I happened upon this clip last night of Tebow at a press conference and he seems very... well, gay. It's reminiscent of the Taylor Lautner video with the hands waving around and stereotypical "gay voice."

That video was interesting. Maybe the lack of respect he gets in the sports press has something to do with the opinion of many that he might be gay. He might also be so unworldly innocent that he doesn't even know he's gay. That would be something!

If Tebow were gay, he'd have been relegated to the third-string in college and never made the NFL Draft. He'd probably be off somewhere selling cars or an asst-manager at Target.

It wouldn't shock me for a second if Tebow were gay, but I'll be shocked if he ever comes out. The only way I'd speculate it could happen, were it true, would be if he were outed by someone he slept with, or if he were stupid enough to post pictures of himself somewhere.

I've been participating at college football boards since Tebow was a freshman at Florida. Whenever there was a post about Tebow, the homophobia was close behind.

@Chad: Jesus never said a word on record critical of homosexuality, gay individuals or same-sex couples. Many or most of the various people quoted in the Bible disagreed with Jesus or were even violently opposed to the kinds of ideals that Jesus taught.
Nobody has to throw away their Bible to be more accepting, whether it's of gay people, black people, left-handed people, women and everyone else who's been Bible-bashed over the centuries. All they have to do is THINK when they read, and process the context of what they're reading.
@Caliban: I'm not aware that Tebow has ever declared whether he's gay, straight or bi. But kissing another player is no evidence in any direction. The Christian parts of the Bible suggest that Christian men SHOULD greet other men with a kiss, and also teach that one should not let his morals be just a product of his society. Absent any hypocrisy, we would expect a lot more man-to-man kisses among Christian players.

And what if pigs could fly. This is a total non-story and not really worthy of the time it takes to read it. It is highly unlikely that Tebow is gay and even more unlikely that if he is he's going to publicly announce it - especially why under the microscope of professional football. I'm not a fan of either football or Tebow but I think the focus on his antics is much ado about nothing - leave him alone and eventually he'll go the way of most sport figures - he'll either start doing sports commentary or get a car dealership.
