The Obama Documentary: VIDEO

Barack_obama

The Obama campaign has just released the full 17-minute Tom Hanks-narrated documentary The Road We've Traveled, highlighting the major calls he has had to make since becoming president. It's directed by Davis Guggenheim and features President Bill Clinton, Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Elizabeth Warren, David Axelrod, and Austan Goolsbee. It cost at least $345,000 to produce.

A must-watch, AFTER THE JUMP...

Here's the GOP's lame response.

  1. Repiglicons simply can't argue with the facts.
His accomplishments are indisputable. I'm so excited about another 4 years!

  2. Aaaaaannnd bring on the trolls to say he hasn't done enough for gays. Yes he's playing a game when he says he's "evolving" on gay marriage-- but stick with him and once he's re-elected you'll find his evolution on the matter rapidly complete! It's crappy he has to play it that way, but waddaya gonna do?

  3. Obama 2012. We don't have anyone even close that can bring equality for all of us. We made some amazing progress under his presidency and I look forward to see a lot more in the next 4 years.

  4. Please stop calling this a documentary.

  5. Republicans keep trying to tag Obama as the new Jimmy Carter, even if it isn't true. What Obama really is, is the new Harry Truman--also a Midwesterner who became President without a lot of prior political experience. He helped end DADT, just as Truman desegregated the troops. He made a tough call involving taking out a foreign enemy (dropping the bomb on Japan vs. taking out Bin Laden). Truman didn't have high approval ratings at the time and barely squeaked to re-election (remember "Dewey Defeats Truman" headlines?), but today he's regarded as one of the best presidents. Obama will be similarly respected and venerated years from now when the smoke clears.

  6. God, I Love this president. He makes me proud of America.

  7. Barack Obama is the most thrilling President and world leader I have ever known. In the next four years he will be even greater as this first term has prepared him to confront even greater challenges, perhaps among the greatest ever faced by any President. I have a deep feeling about him and about what's coming. He has a destiny.

  8. Obama isn't the next Truman, Carter, Clinton. He's Obama. He's pissed me off so many times, and he damn well better be re-elected. There's a Supreme Court to consider.

  9. ITS NOT OBAMA FAULT WHEN ARE IN THIS MESS. TRY THE DIRT UNDER BUSH. CLINTON HAD IT ALL IN ORDER AND A DIRTY BUSH CAME A LONG.

  10. Well put, Mike.

It is important to keep in mind the intended audience: a few thousand voters in the five or six states that are actually up for grabs.

    Posted by: melvin | Mar 16, 2012 4:06:12 AM

  11. Considering the mess he walked into, I'm happy with Obama's performance as president so far, but I'll need more time make a complete assessment. Another four years should do it.

  12. What road? The road to lies? The man is a pathological liar who lied to us about being our fiercest advocate. He's fake as.

Face it - Obama is a fake. His manifesto is entitled The Art Of Political Manipulation Of Gays. Vote for him as much as you like. I certainly won't be. I hope he loses the election big time.

  13. @Jason, how can any self respecting gay man consider voting for Santorum or Romney? President Obama is a friend of the LGBT community and has nominated four openly gay justices to the US district court. No other President has done that nor have any had as many openly gay guests at the White House. All of the GOP candidates would rather we crawl back into the closet and cast us off as a population to be scorned not celebrated.

    Wake up!

  14. Obama is a bigot who pigheadedly opposes marriage equality. He made sure that ENDA would not get voted on, even when Democrats had large majorities in both houses.

DADT was the result of their need for cannon fodder and the Hate Crimes Act is too limp to be effective and in any case has never been used in crimes against GLBT folks.

Obama is a lap dog of the rich. He gave them over $7 Trillion ($7,000,000,000,000.00) in gifts while only spending a few hundred billion on the unemployed and homeless. Obama busted the UAW, the crown jewel of the labor movement, instituted draconian cuts in job, wages and benefits for federal and postal workers, and, by example led the charge against government workers by union busters in Wisconsin (Walker) , Chicago (Rahm), California (Brown), Ohio Kasich) and New York (Cuomo).

Obama's administration gave permits for the Deepwater Horizons and has not indicated anyone for murdering the 27 oil workers killed or injured when it blew. Obama unilaterally scuttled clean air rules and gave the polluters a pat on the back. No one has been indicted for murdering the 28 miners murdered by the Massey Energy (Coal) Company in West Virginia in April, 2010.

Obama is a war criminal responsible for the deaths of thousands of civilians and almost 2,000 and counting GIs in Afghanistan.

Obama gave away our chance for socialized medicine after 20 million in bribes from Big Pharma and insurance companies and a couple of dozen secret meetings with executives from those companies.

Obama is an enemy of the Constitution, civil rights and liberties. He signed NDAA, arrogating to himself the right to detain citizens on a whim, supports FISA and twice voted to extend the Paytriot Act. He says he has the right to kill any American citizen on a whim and has done so at least three times.

The Republicans who oppose him are almost as bad. They spit in our faces and smirk as the shove a knife in our chest. Obama, the DNC and the Obot trolls like leprechaunvict sweetly smile as they blindfold us and slip a knife in our backs. There are no lesser evils here, just bigots, warmongers, anti-environmentalists, immigrant and imported workers bashers and antigay bigots.

On Tuesday, November 6th vote socialist, write in Brad Manning or just sit it out. A vote for Obama or Romney is a wasted vote. Before and after the elections build unions, the union left and the Occupy movements.

  15. No, Obama is not perfect. There are plenty of ways he could improve. But consider the alternative for just one minute. A GOP administration, no matter which clown they pick, will be a disaster for the country, the economy, social justice, judicial appointments, the environment, health care, the social safety net, Medicare, Social Security, small businesses, the infrastructure, foreign relations, the deficit, women's rights, religious freedom - not to mention the complete, utter disaster for gays.

The GOP always held within it a subculture of religious fanatics, racists, misogynists, paranoid conspiracy theorists, anti-government militiamen, cultists and Christofascists. Now, that fringe has completely taken over the party. The fanatics led by Gingrich and Santorum are truly frightened fundamentalist home schoolers who are horrified that Obama is president, and genuinely fear that their perfect world is being destroyed by liberals, gays, feminists and secular humanists who are going to ruin their children. These people are now calling the shots. Just one look at Rachel Maddow's interview last night with Sen. James Inholfe (R-OK) should show you all you need to know about these people - they live in their own bubble, adhere to their own facts, ignore the truth, dismiss any conflicting ideas as liberal propaganda and basically put their fingers in their ears and go, "la la la."

Obama has accomplished far more for the electorate than a GOP administration would or will. The GOP will make it safe for polluters, grifters, Wall Street criminals and while collar thugs. We will be in another middle east war and our servicemen, some of them newly out, will die needlessly in yet another power grab. The GOP cares about one thing: lining the pockets of the powerful, and frighten and fool the ignorant populace into thinking their interests are protected, when they're actually being squashed.

Republicans aren't even Americans anymore. They're residents of the magical place called Jesusland.

So, the next time you're about to trash our president, remember that.

  16. It is very disturbing to see some these delusional homosexuals posting about politics. You're pinning a pink triangle on your lapel and walking into GOP camps.

The Supreme Court is at stake. Your future and personal liberties are at stake. Not to mention women and seniors.

    Wake up!

    Posted by: John | Mar 16, 2012 10:23:58 AM

  17. "So, the next time you're about to trash our president"...

Obama trashes unions, the environment, consumers, civilians and GIs in half a dozen countries and the Constitution. The Republicans will do no better.

On Tuesday, November 6th vote socialist, write in Brad Manning as a sign of you contempt for Obama's bigotry in denying us marriage equality and ENDA or just sit it out.

  18. "A vote for Obama or Romney is a wasted vote."

But a socialist vote for someone I've never heard of named Brad Manning will accomplish something? Umm....ok.

  19. ignore the racist white boys who just can't handle a Black Democrat ruling their White Christian country.

they're scum. treat 'em as such.

    Posted by: LittleKiwi | Mar 16, 2012 11:56:47 AM

  20. LITTLEKIWI'S got it all wrong, which is understandable becuause he's a typically clueless, spineless and conformist Obot.

Opposition to racists like Obama, who deny health care to imported workers and conduct racist wars against Arab/muslims is not racist, in spite of the delusions of the dwindling number of Obama supporters. Opposition to bigots like Obama who reject LGBT folks right to marry is not hatred, it's just opposition to a christian bigot. Opposition to Obama's scabbing and union busting isn't racist, it's legitimate rage over Obama's anti working class agenda.

Opposition to Obama's benign neglect of the communities of people of color is becoming a common thread, and it's not hatred, it's self defense. When James Kane of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel says "More blacks are wondering publicly just what Obama is doing to help alleviate problems in the black community, which is a dramatic change from just a few years ago when the first African-American president seemingly could do no wrong" that's not racism. It's common sense.

Opposition to Obama's benign neglect of the communities of people of color is becoming a common thread: "I think [Obama] plays the game that he plays because he sees no threat from evidencing concerns for the poor... (or) a deeper concern for the needs of black people..." says Harry Belafonte. When Cornel West, University Professor of African American Studies and Religion at Princeton says "I thought Barack Obama could have provided some way out. But he lacks backbone", that's not racism. It's common sense.

In practice, Obama is a racist, a union buster, a war monger and a bigot who gives daily tongue baths to the rich. He's the enemy. Obots lie for him.

On Tuesday, November 6th vote socialist, write in Brad Manning as a sign of you contempt for Obama's bigotry in denying us marriage equality and ENDA or just sit it out.

  21. hey, "Bill Perdue", ten bucks says your cowardly @ss can't provide a link to your own webpage where you put a face and name to your theories and comments.

I call your bluff, you racist troll. Either prove me wrong or keep rambling from a place of anonymity and prove me right.

    Posted by: LittleKiwi | Mar 16, 2012 12:34:36 PM

  22. Poor LITTLEKIWI. He's far too stupid to refute criticisms from the left so he goes fishing for red herrings.

On Tuesday, November 6th vote socialist, write in Brad Manning as a sign of you contempt for Obama's bigotry in denying us marriage equality and ENDA or just sit it out.

A vote for Obama or Romney is a wasted vote. Before and after the elections build unions, the union left and the Occupy movements.

What website are you referring to, dummy. I don't have one. But go ahead, stupid, google away and try to find one.

Vote for socialists or for leftists.
But keep in mind that voting is irrelevant. Multi-gazillionaires own both parties and what you or I may be for or against politically is going to be simply ignored by their lap dogs in the Republican and Democrat parties.

Instead of looking for a powerful leader, look to build mass movements to change things - that works. Elections don't.

And powerful leaders are very dangerous. Ask the guy in the White House who gave himself the power to arrest and detain American citizens on a whim. Obama's getting very Caesarian.

    Just ask Brad Manning.

  23. @Kiwi: Comrade Perdue is actually an infamous communist who's been posting his rants on this site (and others) for years. I've no doubt he'll provide you a link to his webpage. Not sure I'd click on it though!

Most of us just ignore him.

People, rightly so, say he's clueless and leave it at that.
