Bristol Claims Threats After Gay Marriage Critique

BristolDancing

Bristol Palin last week injected herself into the gay marriage debate by dissing President Obama for citing his young daughters' support for his shift on the matter. Now Palin says she received death threats for her remarks, and appears to be pinning the blame on Hollywood:

[Palin shared] screenshots of some the comments written on her site, including ones that say "kill yourself," "may death be upon you," and "You all, including your son, deserve a slow, painful and miserable death."

However, the 21-year-old isn’t backing down and argued the death threats only serve to undermine her critics who are attacking her.

"Around Hollywood, there's lots of concern and great initiatives to try to encourage more kindness in this world,” she wrote. “Then why do I get so many messages telling me I should die?"

Palin claims in the post she is victim of “bullying.”

"Here's a newsflash, guys. Your hate and bullying won't work,” she wrote. “People see through it, and they don't like to be pushed around. You think it's completely obvious that you're right, but this younger generation is more pro-life than their parents, and voters just keep defending traditional marriage."

As Irish Central points out, Palin's chattiness on marriage, and the former Dancing With The Stars contestant's claims of threats, come mere weeks before the premiere of her latest reality show about her life as a single mother.

It's called Bristol Palin: Life's a Tripp. Because, you know, her kid's name is "Tripp." Word play!

  3. She is deluded if she thinks more than 10 people care what she thinks or says.

  4. Guess she is too old now for "16 and Pregnant".

  5. shame on the producers of the reality show, giving her airtime and a way to make $.

  6. Nice article by Frank Bruni in NY Times about Bristol Palin:

"Palin said, 'In general kids do better growing up in a mother/father home. Ideally, fathers help shape their kids’ worldview.' Fathers like ... Levi Johnston? It’s with him that she conceived her child — out of wedlock, at the age of 17 — and by most accounts, his relationship with her and the Palin family isn’t any warmer than Juneau in January. A mother/father home is not what he and Bristol have succeeded in creating."

  7. I believe she's an idiot but wishing death on her and her son is as despicable as her homophobic statements. We need to rise above this.

  8. This is just publicity she or, more likely her ghostwriter Nancy French, have cooked up before her reality show debuts. Maybe we should stop reporting what she says.

  9. Social conservatives are famous for quoting Bible verses to claim that God views homosexuality as an abomination and will put sodomizers to death. Yet the Palin family disgraces public morals and common decency at every turn - year after year - and there is barely a peep in the conservative movement that maybe this undignified family should....uh..... get he hell off the stage and stop contributing to the moral decline of America?

For God's sake, even Monica Lewinsky tried to redeem herself by doing something useful like designing handbags. Everyone on the right knows perfectly well that if the Palins were on the left the right wing would be throwing those figurative stones by the bucketful. Where's biblical literatlism when you really need it?

  10. This is a total ploy for publicity for a third-rate celebrity who has a show to plug. What do you bet she asked to guest-visit Dancing w/Stars and was turned-down?

  11. I think she's just squeezing out some sour grape juice about Hollywood, because she tried to make it there and ended up having to go back to Alaska.

  12. Maybe she'll learn something from her bullying.

  13. The Palins have maintained a public image as revolutionaries. Sarah Palin has used terms like "blood libel" and urged her constituents to "reload." It's not uncommon for the standards any of us present to the world to applied to us when the time comes. I think the Palins should think about their own language and veiled threats before they complain about those made by others.

  14. And perhaps someday Ms. Palin will find herself a traditional marriage. But for now, she is an unwed mother. One would think a little humility would be in order on her part.

  15. The death threats are obviously wrong, but this is yet another attempt from social conservatives to paint themselves as victims. These people are truly sad. Sad people with sad lives and absolutely zero perspective nor awareness.

  16. Talk about people in glass houses throwing stones. Nothing like a blast of homophobia to give some D-Lister cultural relevance, is there?

She has some gall. I'm glad the article calls her out for her hypocrisy.

  17. frankly I wouldn't be surprised if she sent the hostile comments to herself.

If I had an IQ twice that of her entire family combined I'd still be a stupid as a potato.

  18. The fact that those threats have been made against her and her child are probably true and definitely wrong. I have often read similar threats on this site directed against those who oppose us on various gay civil rights issues. Violence and the threats of violence have NO place in our democratic society.

  19. It's not Hollywood, it's probably just her neighbors in Alaska.

  20. No one asked Bristol for her reaction to Obama's statement. She put that on her blog for all the world to see.

I wouldn't wish death on her. That's nuts. But when you say something in public AND you're a C-level celebrity, you can't expect to escape criticism.

She must have inherited her thin skin from her mom.

  21. It must be really depressing to first actually have Sarah Palin as a mum. Worse still for that be your entire career...being famous for being related to Sarah Palin !!....i hope she gets some financial payback at least so she can live comfortably because it must be hard waking up everyday and that being your life, your reality and your purpose.

  22. The gay community needs better leaders. What we should NOT be doing is hating on people because they don't agree with our lifestyle or gay marriage. Leftists and liberals should not be sending her death threats. What the gay community SHOULD be doing is taking the time to sit down with people that disagree with us, let them get to know us, LISTENING to their concerns and responding to them like adults.

You fools that hate on people that disagree with our lifestyle are no better than they are.

    Posted by: Alan | May 16, 2012 10:38:51 AM

  23. Alan, what the gay community needs is for alleged members of said community to stop referring to our lives as "lifestyles".

Posted by: Dastius Krazitauc | May 16, 2012 10:43:38 AM

  24. @ Alan way to assume death threats came from gay people! Maybe you should stop moralizing and consider this to be the publicity stunt that it is & the typical modus operandi of the extreme Right. Make racist or homophobic statements & then cry discrimination when anyone responds in a negative way and produce the obligatory death threat. There are death threats everyday on their sites against Obama.

Now consider this, Bristol Palin put Malia & Sasha names out there as the cause of Obama changing his mind on gay marriage. How many death threats did they receive as a result? I'm sure they get them but the White House is not about to publicize it because they want them safe. Bristol is supremely unconcerned about what harm she may have done.

  25. It’s important to be aware of the ground rules whenever the Palin family is involved. Well, Ground RULE since there’s only one.

NO MATTER WHAT THEY SAY, NO MATTER WHAT THEY DO, THE PALIN FAMILY IS THE **REAL** VICTIM IN EVERY SITUATION!!!

Every question they don’t know the answer to is “a gotcha question,” if a media account isn’t in their favor it’s “the lamestream media,” and if you point put that it’s pretty f**king hypocritical for Bristol Palin to lecture ANYONE on parenting, much less advocate for abstinence education, when she’s just some dumb tramp who got knocked up by her redneck boyfriend then you’re being mean!

So now that we’ve got that straight, feel free to say anything you like about the Palins, so long as it’s complimentary.
