'Disturbed' OMM Reacts To JC Penney Catalog Featuring Gay Dads

The group One Million Moms released the obligatory press release decrying JC Penney for featuring real-life gay dads in their most recent catalog.

Describing themselves as 'disturbed,' the group again vowed to keep fighting the gay-friendly retailer. "Our persistence will pay off!" they declare in their press release, which also insists JCP "would rather take sides than remain neutral in the culture war."

It is obvious that JCP would rather take sides than remain neutral in the culture war. JCP will hear from the other side so they need to hear from us as well. Our persistence will pay off! One day we will answer for our actions or lack of them. We must remain diligent and stand up for Biblical values and truth. Scripture says multiple times that homosexuality is wrong, and God will not tolerate this sinful nature.

In addition to again urging their supporters to call and write to JC Penney, OMM also asks them to return any unsolicited catalogs that may come their way. "If they receive an onslaught of their returned magazines, they will take notice."

Despite these frequent calls to action, JC Penney has remained steadfast in their commitment to equality.

  1. "Describing themselves as 'disturbed,'..." I think that says everything. B-)

  3. next thing... they'll want to put people to death for dancing at a wedding....

  4. The Few Hundred Moms haven't gotten the memo: The culture war is over. They lost.

They should be glad we're not demanding reparations. Yet.

  5. This has nothing to do with this post but for the LOVE OF JEEBUS please make this vexing irritating "social reading" nonsense go away. If I wanted to read socially I'd go to a sermon or something!!!

  6. Isn't JC Penny already damned for selling clothes that mix different fibers? Look at this monstrosity:

TRIPLE BLEND!?!?! Might as well start selling shellfish and shaving their sideburns while they're at it.

  7. They want JCP to remain nuetral, unless of course they had taken OMM's side.

  8. Just posted through the JCP website:

    "Dear JC Penny Management:

I'm writing to make you aware of my support for your new campaign to be more inclusionary. I understand that a certain organization (one million moms - which we know is more like "50,000 bigots") is urging its followers to return your catalogues. I find this abhorrent, but it is certainly their right.

On the contrary,I'm writing to express my support but to also do something that I never thought I would; request a catalogue. I've not been in a JCP store for a decade or more, but I'm willing to give your merchandise a new look and hope to become a PROUD JCP client.

    Bxxxx Dxxxxx"

  9. There are also black people in the catalog. It's a shame that JC Penny has to take sides on the issue of racism rather than just "stay neutral" by having an all-white catalog.

  10. On the OMM website (, they ask if you "see a commercial or program which is offensive" to email them via their complaint form. I emailed them their above URL. You should too.

  11. Biblical values? Like baring false witness? Lying? Yadda, yadda, yadda.

I love how JC Penny basically gave them the big F#CK YOU with this catalog.

  12. Sorry One Million Moms with Nothing Better to Do. JCPenney knows who has all the purchasing power.

    Don't do that...

  14. How is it neutral to only post pics of straight couples? Oh right, because that's OMM's position. I forgot - neutrality has a stance these days.

  15. The time has come for what is truly inevitable about these "campaigns" you have to stop reporting on them. Allow OMM to fade into obscurity where they belong because that is the ultimate ending to this tail.

Just like the boy who cried wolf, they are calling "emergency" about every little thing they see. It's time for the towns folk to stop listening.

Stop giving them column space. We know they exist, the constant reminder there is this little group out there who doesn't like us retails doesn't improve our lives. They've shown themselves to be morons, this has been noted. Now help them slink away into the night by ignoring them. I'm certain this is what JC Penny are doing.

  16. I took time this morning to go online and order those amazing crew T-shirts for son and husband (ok, a couple for me too). Just because JC deserves our support. I encourage every one of you to do the same. Go online, buy an item or two and let JC Penny know we really do care about their continued support.

  17. This is no Culture War.

    Call it what it is.

This is a Religious War on U.S. Citizens who are LGBT.

    Help change the Meme!

Start using the accurate term, OMM.

  18. Funny bit from their website on this "issue": "Because JCP blocks emails from our server, OMM has a prewritten letter ready for you to send from YOUR email server."

In other words, JCP has told them unequivocally, that they don't care about the 47,000 moms' opinion...

  19. This is a beautiful family. And if I understand correctly, this is a REAL family.

So it's pretty laughable for this group to protest. Do they think protesting will make this family go away?

JCP is above and beyond asking for equality. They are standing right up and saying "This is real. This is happening and you can't change that."

And look at those children. There is no doubt that their home is filled with love and happiness.

It's too bad these "Moms" don't see that.

My husband and I are in the process of adopting our first child. We don't need anyone's approval or acceptance. This is real. This is happening. Families like this exist everywhere. And I'm so glad JCP is letting people see that.

  20. And that photo just screams "menace," doesn't it?

    Posted by: Butch | May 31, 2012 3:49:04 PM

  21. Nothing wrong with taking sides, as long as it's the right side. Inclusion is a good thing for business. Diversity is a good thing for business.

JC Penny knows what it's doing.

    Posted by: sparks | May 31, 2012 3:50:51 PM

  22. The most recent credible membership count of OMM is 33,165. I guess honesty isn't part of their mission statement.

    Also, the membership is shrinking.

I agree with the earlier post: Stop giving them more attention.

    Posted by: MikeBoston | May 31, 2012 3:56:28 PM

  23. Is it me, but wouldn't remaining neutral in the "culture war" be treating all your employees as equal?

And wouldn't refusing to acknowledge or even firing your employees simply because they're gay (like OMM wanted JCP to do with Ellen) be taking a very strong stance in these war? These people are hypocrites and liars. And, clearly, they're not very smart.

    Posted by: Scott | May 31, 2012 3:57:05 PM

  24. The only reason deplorable organizations like OMM exist in the first place is because they keep snagging headlines. Quit giving them headlines. Of course they are protesting this. Ignore them and they lose power. They are not a danger. They are vastly outnumbered. Just like the handful of Westboro nutbags. Ignore them. Next.
