Joe Ricketts ‘Rejects’ Jeremiah Wright Smear

JoeRicketts

Businessman Joe Ricketts has swiftly disavowed a plan to that would have used controversial preacher Jeremiah Wright to smear President Obama. Brian Baker, the president of the Ending Spending Action Fund PAC billionaire Ricketts helped establish, released the following statement:

Joe Ricketts is a registered independent, a fiscal conservative, and an outspoken critic of the Obama Administration, but he is neither the author nor the funder of the so-called “Ricketts Plan” to defeat Mr. Obama that The New York Times wrote about this morning.

Not only was this plan merely a proposal — one of several submitted to the Ending Spending Action Fund by third-party vendors — but it reflects an approach to politics that Mr. Ricketts rejects and it was never a plan to be accepted but only a suggestion for a direction to take.

Mr. Ricketts intends to work hard to help elect a president this fall who shares his commitment to economic responsibility, but his efforts are and will continue to be focused entirely on questions of fiscal policy, not attacks that seek to divide us socially or culturally.

One has to wonder what other plans Ricketts is considering, and whether we'll hear about them before their hit their airwaves.

Too bad they’re apparently not going forward with their plan to force Pres.Obama to accept or reject all the preachings of Rev.Wright.

That would open the door to grilling Mitt Romney on which doctrines of the Mormon Church he believes. That would be awkward.

    LOL

probably due to reporters asking this morning of romney if that meant religion is fair game = mormonism questions time

LOLz & romney land went oh sh@t

So what is the banner ad across the top of Towleroad today? It’s for TD Ameritrade. Apparently this site doesn’t care where it gets its money from.

My first, last and only impression is that a man is known by the company he keeps.

This man, the founder of TDAmeritrade, supports Mitt Romney, and is comfortable dredging mud from five years ago. This is what and who TDAmeritrade is? This is who supports Mitt Romney, and this is just one of the levels that are available to discredit a man who walked into the White House after the previous President essentially walked (months before leaving office) and left an absolute unfathomable disaster. And this is the best TDAmeritrade has to offer?

That Mr. Obama attended a church where the minister delivered fiery, incendiary speech?

    A) Is that not the role of a preacher?

    B) As a former Catholic, I can’t count the number of times a priest delivered an abusive, targeted, hateful sermon designed to increase revenues, and marginalize.

Again, a man is known by the company he keeps. TDAmeritrade is clearly a friend of Mitt Romney. Rev. Wright is a minister in his church, and Mr. Obama has disavowed Rev. Wright’s inflammatory speech, while not disavowing his faith.

Might I ask who, if any, with disavow the distorted, abusive, opportunistic (Citizen United-enabled) speech from TDAmeritrade?

Mr. Romney’s mouthpiece has offered the obligatory “huh, not us” disclaimer, but again, a man is known by the company he keeps.

Anybody else feel like closing their TDAmeritrade account now? I know I do (and did).

TDAmeritrade, shame on you. The very definition of a corporate raider.

Lol, they’re such liars. This billionaire like the Koch brothers and the rest have more schemes up their sleeves because the black leftist in the WH won’t bow to their will and way of thinking.

Registered independent is just another word used by those ashamed of admitting they’re republican.

I don’t find most of Jeremiah Wrights sermons or talks offensive at all, I agree with SOME things he has said… SO I don’t know what is the big deal, but of course the mainstream media is making a big deal out of this.

I think Wright is a more believable person than Obama to be honest.

Translation of Mr. Ricketts statement: Damn that NYT for outing our plan. Back to the drawing boards where we’ll channel our race hatred, and bile in more sophisticated ways with only a hint of our personal loathing of the first family.
