This ass of a man should be arrested immediately for inciting violence. And his church should have their non-profit status revoked immediately.

  2. Tanoka says

    Israel kills gays?

It seems the haters are becoming more and more daring. How long before the lynching gangs are marching in the streets?

  3. John Equality says

Massachusetts gay person says the government should kill pastors. And since gay people pay taxes and pastors don’t, I think the government is a lot more likely to take my advice than his.

  4. says

He left something out. The Bible demands death for:

People who don’t listen to priests (Deuteronomy 17:12)

Sorceresses (Exodus 22:17), fortunetellers (Leviticus 20:27), and false prophets (Deuteronomy 13:1-5, Deuteronomy 18:20-22, Zechariah 13:3)

Men who lie with other men as with a woman (Leviticus 20:13)

People who work on the Sabbath (Exodus 31:12-15)

Striking (Exodus 21:15) or cursing (Leviticus 20:9) your parents

Adultery and fornication (Leviticus 20:10, Leviticus 21:9, Deuteronomy 22:20-21)

    Blasphemy (Leviticus 24:10-16)

  5. Michae says

Adulterers? Kids who curse their parents? Women who aren’t virgins on their wedding night? Odd how he is blowing off that scripture.

Btw, is anyone else finding this a bit calculated? It’s too much of a coincidence we have two different pastors within a week or so calling for Nazi style killing of homosexuals. Somethings up and this has The Family written all over it. You know, start government sanctioned killings of gays in Uganda, watch it spread over the world.and then finally start it at home. We are only fooling ourselves if we don’t think we are beyond concentration camps. My bet is wityin another week we will be hearing from another pastor.

  6. says

What truly is the saving grace of such vermin? Every single one of these Neanderthal freaks are card carrying members of the GOP. You couldn’t wish better “friends” on your political enemies!

  7. jim says

Who the f*ck ARE these people, and where are they all coming from??

So he’s basically saying it’s god’s idea to kill gays, not his own. Wow, that’s a new low! But then he wants the gov’t to do his dirty work…pussy!

  8. Rich F. says

FTFA: “‘Oh, I can’t believe you you’re horrible. You’re a backwards neanderthal of a person.’ Is that what you’re calling scripture?”

Yes, you bloody idiot, that’s EXACTLY what I’m saying. I’m saying that your book of fairy tales was “written” by a bunch of semi-literate nomadic goat herders whose “moral” code has about as much to do with modern society as their bronze-age tools have to do with rocketry. Anybody stupid enough to follow its diktats should be kept away from sharp objects, and prevented from leaving the house when it’s raining out so they don’t drown from gawping wide-eyed and mouth agape at the water falling from the sky. I’m saying that your religion is a mental illness, AT BEST, and is a poison in the body politic.

    In short: go DIAF.

  9. john says

lest we and the world forget
and many don’t even know that we were once put behind fences. Once before by a little group known as the nazi’s, murdered, tortured, starved, and experimented on; and we’re still here. So pastor if anyone belongs behind a fence I would say its you. Prison fences for promoting encouraging and instigating; starvation and murder of human beings. so pastor worley to you I say, been there done that got the pink triangle to prove it, not to mention history books, museums, and hundreds of thousands of WW2 veterans. So pastor worley your secret is out it’s time to turn in your cross for a swastika fly your true colors.

  10. sleepy bears says

I don’t think he’s correct about Israel. Supposedly over 61% of the population there supports same-sex marriage. And, Israel has allowed gays to openly serve in the military for awhile now. Although… I guess they could purposely be using them for cannon fodder.

  11. Elizabeth says

NC in the beginning of May had a vote for amendment one. NC has had many pastors publicly say kill gas, punch gay kids and the such. So foe us this is just another guy saying the same crap we have been hearing and seeing on church signs for months.

  12. Jake says

You guys act like his views are uncommon. The fact is they are very common, and the votes on gay-related ballot initiatives, just reflect how common they are. A very large percentage of people agree with the pastor. Sad, but true.

He’s kind of refreshing, actually. None of this mamby-pamby “I love you but hate your sin” foolishness. He’s not ashamed, and he wants us dead. Ok, this I can work with.

  15. Francis says

So, this is their way of reacting when the tide is clearly turning against them. “Well, we’re not winning this social war, so we’ll just have to kill the queers and end this once and for all”.

In a small way, I am sort of (happy isn’t the correct word)………….relieved that they aren’t BSing around their true feelings. Simply straight up saying, I hate you and I wish you dead. Obviously, it’s horrific, it’s ridiculous, it’s alarming, but I’d rather have everyone see these fundamentalists for who they are, so we can identify these bigots as the inhumane ignorant garbage they are.

  16. Nigel says

So any gay person in a “Stand you Ground” gun law state can shoot and kill such preachers because based on their own statements and behavior cause the gay person to fear for their life, right.

  17. Fritz says

@Yeek – I completely agree. Let America decide whose side they want to be on, ours or his. We will win that battle, and it won’t even be close.

  20. Dave says

Yet more proof that anti-gay Christians are criminally insane, because they want to murder another human being just because he or she is different. The hive mind or the mob mentality is starting up like when the mad man Dictator Hitler stirred up the Catholic Nazi German people to murder Jews and Homosexuals etc., so they could take over the world. It is plan to see that these mad men Christians are now the ones who like Hitler are now stirring up the America Christians like Hitler stirred up his Nazi Catholics to take over Europe by murdering any body who tried to stop them, before the Allied forces had to stop the mad man Hitler in the 1940’s and the Nazi Catholic German people who wanted to kill and destroy the world to make it pure for the white race or people only. Never has this much insanity been on the rise since the mad man Hitler stirred up his people to murder. Now we have white mad men Christian “religious leaders” who are doing the same thing only this is today, 2012. Only 70 some years ago.

  21. neptune says

Where are those ‘we should respect him for his opinion’ queens that were here earlier today? Perhaps they’d like to dine with this terrible excuse for a human and try to talk nice.

Look, Daddy! I’m having dinner with a pastor that hates gays!

  22. dh says

Why are the Baptists even more extreme than the Mormons and Catholics? Phelps, those two separate preachers in NC, now this guy, etc. These guys are always invoking the death penalty for their enemies. Ugh!

  23. Frank says

The United States is a signatory to an international treaty banning the promotion of genocide. This man can say this without legal consequence because there is no clear and present danger of his ideas being adopted. However, if the day should come that some state makes being gay a capital crime, I will personally hunt down every one of the priests, preachers, imams, and assorted other vermin who demanded this and offer them a choice of having their brains blown out or flying to the Hague for trial.

  24. Pierce_mn says

That church had better start paying its taxes, because, when the minister preaches politics, he’s abusing separation of church and state!

  25. Nino says

And his church is tax-exempt, why? He is calling for the slaughter of gay people to fulfill some concocted biblical mandate, but enjoys the privileges of tax-exempt status. And why would a secular government follow the mandate of religious book? This is not a theocracy. Sigh.

  26. Samuel Adams says

I do not agree with the pastor’s statements of course, but I do agree with his logic. Christianity and the Bible very clearly condemn practicing homosexuals to death. If you call yourself a Christian but don’t call for the death of gays and lesbians, you’re not a true, bible-obeying Christian. Christianity is an evil, backwards religion and the Bible is an evil backwards book. It should be sent to the annals of history along with the idea that killing an innocent man will make you innocent. It should be mocked and ridiculed into the ground, like creationism, geocentrism, flat earth theory and eugenics.

  27. lkumle says

I cannot even begin to agree with this guy. Something I’ve noticed in the comments though, is a lot of hate and insults towards this person and his faith. How does that make you any better than him? It doesn’t. Congratulations, we’re all haters. But who, what are you hating and why? A person? A heart (emotion) condition? An attitude? I’ll listen when Love is talking. Not completely true, b/c I will listen to you now, spite and all.
In the meantime, I just have got to let you know that I’m sorry that’s been your very sucky experience with those who claim to follow Jesus. I’m sure there’s a lot more personal, individual histories out there and a lot of hurt. Now, I know some of you will think I’m a nutter, but that’s okay; I wish I could give you hug and let you know that I love you and I know Jesus does too. I wish I knew a better way to say it b/c that sounds so flowery, cliche and weak. More like I want you to know the power of love and grace. No need for religiousity. I’m sure we’re all sick of that. Just relationship…with each other and the Divine.
And before you start throwing stones at me, be aware that I have no stones to throw (nor any right to do so) and that they’ll be returned to you in prayers.

The bible says it so it’s got to be true is his defense for this offensive hate speech? The bible also says it’s ok to have slaves ….it also says not to mix different fabrics – i sure hope he wasn’t wearing a polyester blend when he said that.

  36. Stefan says

There are Muslims and Jews who also hate us and see us as less than human. And there are atheists and agnostics too–I’ve met them. It surprised me. Maybe all Buddhists love us, but I haven’t known that many.

Hatred of homosexuals is rooted in irrational fear of difference, and people twist religion to institutionalize and fuel their hatred. If they didn’t have their version of the Bible, or the Qu’ran, or the Torah, they’d find another way. Nazis in Germany may have needed to get a majority Christian electorate to vote for Hitler, but once in power they were variously anti-Christian, pseudo-Christian, Christian, atheist, neo-Pagan, etc. In other words: hate is hate. Maybe it can be cloaked in a religion, but it doesn’t need it to thrive.

We need to find and embrace our allies where we find them, whatever their religion. And we need to condemn and work against our enemies, regardless of their religion. We don’t need to build arbitrary walls. We’re a minority and always will be, and it will do us no good.

  37. Swiminbuff says

Another example of good Christian values. Why is it taking so long for real practicing Christains to stand up and say these idiots do not represent real Christian values and certainly not all Christians. The longer they stay silent the longer they all get tarred with the same brush.

  38. jamal49 says

@MICHAE: Thanks for expressing my sentiments to a “T”. There is something very, very odd here and while we might scoff at these pastors, I can’t help but feeling that these “outings” of such hateful pastors are no coincidence.

But then, I’m paranoid and I’ve been shouting for years about the evangie-fundie syndrome; i.e. there are millions–repeat, MILLIONS–of these people and their sympathizers all over America and, by god, they will NEVER accept us. And, by god, they are not going to let America accept us without a fight.

We are the last acceptable prejudice for those people to exercise and that they use their “infallible” bible to justify such hateful words and feel absolutely immune from any retribution shows just how powerful they are.

Let no one here deceive themselves just how much evangelicals hate LGBT people. We are the living truth that exposes the lies and myths that are their bible and their religion. Entire multi-million dollar evangelical empires depend upon the continuance of demonization of LGBT people. Those empires do not intend to go out without a fight–a violent and destructive fight.

They vote. Don’t forget that they vote. And, after our President has publicly supported marriage and civil equality for LGBT Americans, you can bet that in churches of all christian denominations who are conservative-fundamentalist in their world view, there will be major proselytizing to get out the vote.

They are legion. Be afraid. Be very, very afraid.

People, let’s be real here: The ravings of this pastor, not to mention those of Pastor Worley and the Westboro people, are far more consistent with the history of Christianity than Christians who support us are.

I’m getting tired of this whole notion that people like Pastor Knapp aren’t “real” Christians when Christians have been persecuting us and a whole lot of other people for being different for centuries.

Christianity is an institution, and institutions like Christianity see anything different — whether it’s gays, Jews, Muslims or even practitioners of other kinds of Christianity — as a threat. You can quibble over Bible verses until you’re blue in the face, but nothing will change that religion’s sordid history of genocide and violence, which people like Pastor Knapp are striving to continue.

Pastor Curtis Knapp of New Hope Baptist Church in Seneca, Kansas thinks gays should be put to death:
“They should be put to death. That’s what happened in Israel. That’s why homosexuality wouldn’t have grown in Israel. It tends to limit conversions. It tends to limit people coming out of the closet. — ‘Oh, so you’re saying we should go out and start killing them, no?’ — I’m saying the government should. They won’t but they should. [You say], ‘oh, I can’t believe you you’re horrible. You’re a backwards neanderthal of a person.’ Is that what you’re calling scripture? Is God a neanderthal backwards.. in his morality. Is it his word or not? If it’s his word, he commanded it. It’s his idea, not mine. And I’m not ashamed of it.”

This madman is dangerous. He’s influencing a following that consists of people who could be in law enforcement, teachers, parents etc. This is an example of how a large portion of society is peddling in reverse into the dark ages due to tough economic times. I really hope that I don’t see my country become Russia or Uganda. It seems though that we’re already seeing it. I don’t believe I’ve seen very many anti-gay hate crimes prosecuted appropriately. It’s almost as if the police, investigators, prosecutors etc feel some sense of dedication to the idea that “the gay deserved it in reality”.

    2 Corinthians 11:13-14
13 For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. 14 And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.

    1 John 4
4 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.

    Titus 1:15-16
15  To the pure, all things are pure, but to the defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure; but both their minds and their consciences are defiled. 16  They profess to know God, but they deny him by their works. They are detestable, disobedient, unfit for any good work.

You’re just going to have to trust me on this. Any person with the slightest Gaydar could easily pick up that this Pastor is as Gay as it gets. Just another self hating closet case homo who deals with his inner feelings by trying to kill them and by making babies to prove he’s not gay.

  47. Ray says

    Dear Pastor Knapp
Thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding God’s Law. I have learned a great deal from you, and try to share that knowledge with as many people as I can. When someone tries to defend the homosexual lifestyle, for example, I simply remind them that Leviticus 18:22 clearly states it to be an abomination. End of debate. I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some of the other specific laws and how to follow them:

When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord – Lev.1:9. The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them?

I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?

I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual uncleanliness – Lev.15:19- 24. The problem is, how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense.

Lev. 25:44 states that I may indeed possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can’t I own Canadians?

I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself?

A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an abomination – Lev. 11:10, it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don’t agree. Can you settle this?

Lev. 21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle room here?

Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev. 19:27. How should they die?

I know from Lev. 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves?

My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev. 19:19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them? – Lev.24:10-16. Couldn’t we just burn them to death at a private family affair like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev. 20:14)

I know you have studied these things extensively, so I am confident you can help. Thank you again for reminding us that God’s word is eternal and unchanging.

@ Paul B, midwest, yes; homeschooled, no; straight…well…. (he he, he said I’m sweet!).

@ Nikko, a lot of people seem to think their beliefs are completely reasonable. You among them. I live in the same state as Westboro Church and Fred Phelps and I believe (along with more of my Christian brothers and sisters [and more of them need to admit it]) that he’s off his rocker. I was on my way to some program on campus where Fred was present and the appropriate counter-protesters. I had some friends on the counter side so went to talk with them. Someone had a “God hate Fred Phelps” sign and I told him to put it away because it defeated the purpose. Hate is only going to breed more hate. So what is the answer? The opposite. Be nice to your enemies. It messes with their heads.
What did Ganhdi do? What did Martin Luther King, Jr. do? They kept their heads and hearts in the right place and didn’t let hate get the best of them. They distinguished between the wrong doing and the wrong-doer. And love and peace won.
