Yes, I must say that for the past 5 or 6 years, SSM has been very detrimental to Canadian society. More people in loving, committed relationships, kids better protected, economic spinoffs from more celebrations, people living their own lives and allowing others to do the same… You know, just generally very detrimental.

    Sheesh.

  2. Marshall says

Hey, anti-gay hate helped George W. Bush get elected in 2004. Is it any wonder that the Republicans are still happy to use bigotry 8 years later? The GOP used anti-black racism for decades via its ‘Southern Strategy.’

Out of touch with the values of America??? Santorum actually thinks that Obama is out of touch??? Has he seen the latest polls regarding marriage equality?????

Look at the polls Rick & Mitt… Then get back to me regarding who exactly is out of touch!!!

  4. NorthoftheBorder says

i long for the day Rick Santorum is caught tapping his foot in an airport washroom stall… or better yet.. asking a massage therapist for sexual favours.

  5. Frank says

I’m afraid we are stuck with Santorum for the next few years- he will be go-to person for quotes on either Romney or Obama like Sarah Palin was. Funny how losing can actually help your career.

  6. jamal49 says

OK, Rick. Here’s what you need to do: you need to give us FACTS FACTS FACTS as to how marriage equality will “harm” America. Please! Some facts, Rick. Some statistics, Rick. You know, for somebody who can imagine sex with a dog (and I don’t know of ANY gay man in my long life who has EVER imagine such a thing), you sure do talk of lot of crap. You think of having sex with a dog, Rick. What does THAT say about you? I think Dan Savage never even got close to the kind of filthy pervert you are, Rick. Rick, you fantasized, thought of, imagined having sex with a dog. Rick!

  7. CPT_Doom says

Has Santorum demanded Newt go back to his wife (I mean Jackie, the first one) yet? Yeah, didn’t think so.

As long as Santorum and Willard tacitly approve of a “marriage” between a man and the woman he paid for sex for 6 years, they have no moral ground to stand on. Some of us actually respect the institution of marriage and don’t think homewreckers should be rewarded by being considered for First Lady.

  8. TJ says

Well, on the positive side, at least he’s not a flip-flopper.

I don’t really mean it, and I don’t condone such behavior, and I’m only saying it for effect, again, but if anyone deserves a hate-f**k…

  9. stevenelliot says

meanwhile. back on planet earth. Europe is financially collapsing, jobless benefits are running out, US infrastructure is crumbling, JP Morgan misplaced billions of $. So what? we’ve got gay marriage to talk about!

  10. woodroad34 says

“Out of touch”? Frothy, have you looked in a mirror lately? You kinda lost, dincha? ‘Cause people really, really don’t like you.

  11. MKisNE says

Well if there’s any comfort in this it reminds me of why he will never be President. Because if he wants to use “us” as weapons, Karma will make sure it comes back to him. And this country will never hate us enough to elect him.

  12. X says

WTF is up with a country that supposedly prides itself on liberty and justice and equality, yet allows people like Santorum to ruin the lives of its citizens? Ugh. This and the North Carolina and Virginia news is a pile of garbage. We should protest, make some noise, anything, argh it’s so frustrating!

  13. mary says

Two plays every gay person wants to see come to Off-Broadway:

“Frothy and the Stranger: an evening with Rick Santorum and Dan Savage” (and what an evening it would be!)

“NOM-inal values: the rise and fall of Maggie Gallagher”

to be followed up by a book purchase at Barnes and Nobles of

“Your Towle or Mine? How Gays, Lesbian, (and sometimes their opponents) interact on the world’s most interesting gay website”

  14. Tanoka says

Yes, talk about SSM and forget the economy and all that other stuff. Because the last thing you want, Mitt, is to show the voters that Obama is a better option than you.

Rickyboy seems to have understood this. Not that it helped him much…

  15. andrew says

I think Santorum’s analysis is correct. Same sex marriage can be a “potent weapon” for Romney, especially in the swing states where the election will be very close. Don’t underestimate the stupidity of many voters. Many working class voters have gone to the polls in past elections and voted against their own best interests because they were swayed by wedge issues.

  16. jim says

Mr Santorum must not have received the memo, leaked over the weekend. Guess when your campaign fails you get removed from the meaningful mailing lists.

  17. vanndean says

The terrible thing about all those voters in those states that have passed state constitutional amendments is they have no idea that they have instructed their state governments to violate the Constitution of the United States. The states with those provisions in their constitutions and their taxpayers are on the hook for millions of dollars in court costs for defending those constitutional changes against the 14th amendment to the Constitution of the United States. How difficult would it have been for those voters to have simply read the 14th amendment to the Constitution of the United States and prevented this entire situation?
