RoadHoward Bragman on "casual" outing: "No, do not let the casualness fool you.  Most of the public figures that have come out have taken decades to reach that decision.  And even if you think you already knew and their pronouncements are no big deal, I'm here to tell you it is a big deal.  It's an incredibly courageous act -- the single most important thing every LGBT American can do to advance the cause of our civil rights.   While we can take a moment to celebrate what we have achieved, it's important we recommit our efforts to this cause because we have miles to go before we sleep."

  1. Oh GOProud....

you mean like when your leader Chris Barron called the 'gay left' the "american taliban?"

or at CPAC when your representative Matt Hissey (LOVE the name..) decided that the best way to represent gay people to conservative was to make statements about "not liking stereotypical gay people" (despite being one unicorn away from being a self-contained float in a pride parade himself?)

but hey, we know how gay republicans work. ignore the bigotry in your own party and desperately look for someone BROWN to get angry at.

Jimmy LaSalvia, you're a sad excuse for a man.

And Romney is a whore, so what's the issue?

  2. @Howard Bragman
"We have miles to go before we sleep"... well said!

  3. @ Howard Bergman ;

Yes, I too liked the use of the adapted quote :
"We have miles to go before we sleep."

    How apt.

  4. In "A Night in Heaven", did Ricky drown in the rowboat...or just get scared-off and wet? I can't remember.

...I may be confusing it with the scene in "White Lightning" were Burt Reynolds' character's younger brother is taken into the swamp, handcuffed to a pile of cement-blocks in the bottom of a rowboat, and one of the villains shoots holes in the rowboat and leaves as the boy slowly-dragged-under and drowns. The point being so he can swear he didn't shoot the boy, and the gators would dispose of the body afterwards.

  5. "I've just about had it with faggots who line their pockets with checks from anti-gay homophobes while throwing the rest of us under the bus." - Jimmy LaSalvia 12/8/11. Tell ya what, we'll apologize just as soon as you do, house faggot.

  6. Jeez, you'd think the boys at GOLoud would check their dictionaries before pointing the accusing finger. Or maybe they need new glasses. Even a dumb white guy like me knows the difference between 'puto' and 'joto'.

  7. since when Puto means anything gay? Puto means male whore which can be use for both gay or straight ppl...

Why is GOProud so worked up over this...I guess they need someone to almost called Mitt a Fag so they can say liberals are gay haters? confused here...

but the comments on the link very entertaining.

  8. Maybe Mickey Rourke is having trouble raising money because no one wants to see him portray Gareth Thomas? Several younger actors come to mind, particularly Tom Hardy.

  9. I don't think Mickey Rourke will be playing GT; it has been hinted and Rourke himself almost let it slip in a recent interview. I believe they will cast someone else. That's if it ever gets made.

  10. is there a stiff wind in here -- no it's only Howard Bragman pontificating again ... so tired of being told what to think by white men older than me with bigger bank accounts... yawn!

  13. So David B, did I miss the memo that said white men of a certain age are no longer allowed to express an opinion? Is it now OK to be ageist? How about racist as long as it is against white men? If a young black, hispanic or Asian man expressed the exact same view would that make it OK?

  14. I find it funny that all these politicians are outraged by Ralph Lauren making the opening ceremony outfits in China. Almost all the competition wear is also made overseas and many of the companies are foreign. Speedo is an Australian company, Adidas is German, Turbo (M&W water polo) is Spanish. And Nike while American, we know it's all made overseas. Official USOC sponsors include BMW, BP and Budweiser - all foreign owned companies.

  15. As a native Spanish speaker, I've never heard anyone use or even describe "puto" as an anti-gay slur. At least in Mexican Spanish it doesn't refer to gays. So it is extremely unlikely that George Lopez used the word in such a manner. But of course leave it to GOProud to completely ignore the cultural differences among Latin American nations.

  17. "Puto" is the male "Puta" in other words a "whore".

  18. Charging Rhino, Ricky just got scared off and wet. But the cuckolded husband making him strip at gunpoint remains one of the most unintentionally(?) homoerotic/hilarious moments in trashy '80s movies.
