Some 'Talking With Doctors' Tumblr Fun At Todd Akin's Expense

You knew it was coming, a "From Talking To Doctors" Tumblr dedicated to GOP Congressman Todd Akin's "legitimate rape" remark.

Above is a great addition to the site, and I've included a few more fun images AFTER THE JUMP, including one featuring the Virgin Mary that religious conservatives are sure to loathe.

  1. Cute meme. But "Immaculate Conception" suggests that Mary was born without sin - therefore suitable to mother a Messiah. People always mix that up with "Virgin Birth" which is a whole other fairy tale. Just sayin'

  2. Thank you Wavin' Dave. I was just about to make that comment.

  4. Easy mistake to make. I sometimes think the Magi's names are Moe, Larry and Curly.

  5. Meh. The best graphic I've seen on this actually comes from a conservative website, showing a "leaked" Congressional doc that may have led to Akins' confusion:

  6. It seems to me, first of all, from talking to doctors, that if it was a legitimate hate crime, then Matthew Shepard had ways to shut that whole thing down.

Equally tasteless and equally true in the minds of conservatives.

  7. @HUGO: Sure there is. The whole story is a lie.

  8. You are wrong Wavin Dave. Immaculate Concepcion does not suggest Mary was born without sin. She was human and so therefore inherited the original sin of Adam and Eve. Eve,especially, that weak-willed B. Also, Mary had already lost her virginity the night of her wedding to Joseph. Immaculate concepcion simply refers to the parthenogenetic nature of her pregnancy of Jesus - that is, a male angel descended from heaven and sprinkled fairy dust on her person and one of her specially chosen egg cells became fertilized, began to divide to become a holy zygote, all without being schtupped by Joseph. Nine months and several bed-and-breakfast refusals later and, voila, the first Christmas ever.

  9. All three had the famous caliber 861 as a base movement and a moonphase module added to it, also known as the caliber 866 movement.

  10. Actually, Manny, you're wrong. The Immaculate Conception is indeed the belief that Mary was born without sin.

Accepted church dogma -- from the Apostolic Constitution of Pope Pius IX, 1854 -- states that "We declare, pronounce, and define that the doctrine which holds that the most Blessed Virgin Mary, in the first instance of her conception, by a singular grace and privilege granted by Almighty God, in view of the merits of Jesus Christ, the Savior of the human race, was preserved free from all stain of original sin, is a doctrine revealed by God and therefore to be believed firmly and constantly by all the faithful."

Although your notion of fairy dust sounds much more fabulous.
