'The Daily Show' Helps DNC Find Its Gay Veteran: VIDEO

The Republican and Democrats' respective party conventions are the Olympics of political theater. Every little detail is styled, rehearsed and set in preparation for national exposure, including the audience. For example, it was recently revealed that, among others, the Democratic National Convention was looking for a gay soldier and a straight soldier who served together to represent equality in Charlotte.

Hoping to lend a helping hand, John Oliver at The Daily Show and reality show casting agent Vinnie Potestivo launched a search for the "next great political prop." And they found him in a gay veteran named Chris.

Watch the search reach its climax AFTER THE JUMP.

  3. That was a very funny bit. Unfortunately that is American politics. The typical American voter is so damn dumb or lets say uninformed, when it comes to political issues that these kind of games have to be played to win their support. As an example, ask the man or woman on the street who their Congressperson is, and they won't know. Most won't know the names and political affiliations of their two U S Senators. Ask them to name a few of the nine justices on the U S Supreme Court and you will get a deer in the headlights look. And so it goes. We get the kind of government we deserve!!!
