Pat Robertson Tells Man to Move to Saudi Arabia So He Can Beat His Disrespectful Wife: VIDEO
On The 700 Club, Pat Robertson responds to a letter from a man who says that his wife is disrespectful and insults him.
Right Wing Watch captured the video, the last portion of which was edited out on the CBN website.
“Well, you could become a Muslim and you could beat her,” Robertson responded. “This man’s got to stand up to her and he can’t let her get away with this stuff,” Robertson continued, “I don’t think we condone wife-beating these days but something has got to be done.”
He later said the woman is a “rebellious child” and pondered if she has psychological problems. Robertson told the viewer that since he “can’t divorce her according to the Scripture, so I say: move to Saudi Arabia.”

First of all, this was taken out of context. He was *trying* to be funny even though he wasn't really.
That said, his failed attempt at humor was totally uncalled for! Someone above compared him to Don Imus who was also fired for attempting to be funny. Now just cuz the CBN /Fox contract requires the show to continue "in perpetuity" but there's nothing that says Pat Robertson must continue as on-air host.

@TIMOTITO: he was not trying to be funny. He only laughed because of the uncomfortable silence coming from the woman next to him. He then launched into another diatribe about standing up and teaching her a lesson in the next breath. It wasn't a joke and you know it.

The Biblical text underlying this issue is Ephesians 5:22-24 [KJV]:
"Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so [let] the wives [be] to their own husbands in every thing."
No surprise the Religious Right hates all forms of Feminism.
