Wow, twenty year ago. That makes me feel really old. Not as old as Madonna, but, still, really old.

That book, with nudity, gay sex, and masturbation, was pretty amazing for a pop star to release. C'mon, would anyone do that today?

So her autobiography came out 20 years ago...hmmm...doesn't time fly?

Ahead if its time given "50 Shades of Gray," but then Madonna's the dominent one in her book, not the men.

In retrospect...Madonna was more or less 10 yrs into here career at this time and look at all she did up to that point. Nobody in current pop music culture can say the same about their career. Whatever ppl call it, "art" is certainly different than the celebrity that is pushed in today's media.

I have that book... Wonder if it's worth anything. Despite its title and lots of lady parts, there is only one fully naked man in the whole thing. Image how disappointed I was 20 years ago (which was before the internet).

Madonna knew how to push the boundaries of the visual medium in both video and that infamous photo book

Stupid book, really, but Erotica was a freaking fantastic album. A perfect time-capsule of early 90s house music with a lot of powerful moments, despite not having many hit singles. Too bad Madonna hasn't made a good record since 2000's Music.

Isn't that the book that fell apart after 1 flip through?

I have the Sex book. Originally, I thought it was cool. Then it dawned on me that it was porno dressed up to look cool. It was also biased against male homosexuality.
It was lesbian-heavy - right in line with the sleazy straight guy fantasy - and had only a couple of pictorials showing male-male erotica. It seems that Madonna was trying to tread a line between titillating straight guys with lots of lesbianism and trying to be a little inclusive in relation to gay men.
In any case, it's interesting to contemplate that a male pop singer, even in 2012, would not have anywhere near the same success as Madonna if he had done a similar book. Women are being allowed to get away with things that we men can't, and it's harming our rights as men.

I would imagine that Matthew at Boy Culture is wet, as he usually is.

Ok, how cute was her hair in that second video?

some comments are down ...stupid. The music industry as we know it now or at the time it was different Madonna was the first artist to benefit from her image, and one of the only females to take control. THE Sex book was a concept like no other of its time or today's...The BOOK itself still pretty fun to read. It is from a female's point of view so yes lots of lesbianism and str8 guys but thats her view, so get over it. Are we still with agesim? Gay guys still out prowling at 50yo..thats not too old already? c'mon! THE whole Erotica-Sex-Body Of Evidence (Ok, yeah the movie isnt great...still) were ahead of its time, still are.

My, what the publishing and music industry wouldn't give for sales like that ("Bedtime Stories" sales, considered not necessarily successful at the time, would blitz today's chart toppers.)
Why is this newsworthy? And I ask the question as a fan of Madonna. I stopped thinking about that book about a day after it was released.
