Mitt Romney, The Saddest Man In The World

RomneysLeaving

How do you think Mitt Romney's feeling right now? Probably not so great. Not only did he lose his last chance to win the White House, his campaign wasted about $25,000 for a fireworks display that never was, and his supporters' fair-weather qualities are more apparent than ever:

By the end of his campaign, Romney seemed to have a sense of peace about the type of race he had run. But the man who loves data also has to accept that he was rejected by young voters, by minorities of every kind, and even by his home town of Belmont and his home state of Massachusetts.

By the time he addressed his supporters on Tuesday night -- in a massive convention hall that opened when he was governor, in the same building where he staged the national call day for his first campaign -- the crowd had thinned.

They chanted “Mitt! Mitt! Mitt!” and attempted to sing “God Bless America.” But it was lackluster and half-hearted. Some donors, who were vital to making sure his campaign was flush with cash, had left the convention hall when the result had become clear.

...

It is unclear what Romney, 65, will do next, but those close to him expect it could be non-profit work, becoming more active in the Mormon Church, or, for the time being, becoming a full-time grandfather.

Meanwhile, some are suggesting that Obama should offer Romney a cabinet seat, but would Romney even want something he can't buy?

  1. A better question is just what seat is he even qualified for?

  3. Boo-freeking-hoo. Now he'll have to barely get by on his hundreds of millions of dollare.

  4. A cabinet seat? What Obama should do is tell Mitt to go f**ck himself for all the horrible lies and slanders he threw The President's way, but Mr. Obama is far too classy for that. Just ignore Lord and Lady Romney, as the last stand for the irrelevant racist remnants of the Tea-O-P. That'll sting the most.

  6. my hope is that he looks at the real numbers of the election, their demographics, and he realizes that by having 18 grandchildren, it's highly unlikely that they're all Straight.

and that the people he's worked against are the only people who voted to make the lives of his potentially-gay grandchildren better.

  9. Mitt's suitable seat is the one he's looking up at from inside the port-a-potty.

  10. Half-hearted attempts to sing "God Bless America"? Or just a crowd that didn't know all the words? Hmm...

  11. Sad? These people don't give a s**t! They have no feelings, no remorse, no regret, they're monsters!

  12. I think Obama should get new chairs for the Cabinet room, and give one of the old ones to Romney so he and Eastwood can talk to the chair from time to time.

  13. I love that whenever republicans lose the democrats are always supposed to sit down with them or give them positions in their administrations, like republicans are ALWAYS doing that when they win.

  15. I'm not emotionally sick enough to want to try and save Mitt Romney from evaluating his own ghastily behavior! His lies, his manipulating, his demeaning of others are very serious personal character issues that reside deep inside his tarnished fascade...let him sit life out in the front row seat of his own dishonorable making surrounded by his shallow look-alikes...keep the ill-mannered greedster far away from the rest of us! Primero Dios.

  16. "Non-profit work"? Mitt Romney? Only if he sees a way to pull in millions for himself.

  17. I could not care less how Mitt Romney feels right now.

  18. Perhaps Mittens should just go ahead and retire to the Cayman Islands. He's fond of stashing his cash there. I'm sure they'd welcome him with open arms.

I have no sympathy and no pity for the man. Good riddance.

  19. What a great pic of Ann: "Talk to the hand, bitches!"

  20. There are two options for Mitt:

    (a) tar and feather him and run him out of town
    (b) have mercy on him and send him back to Utah to do bishop things.

If Obama gave the "Mitt the tit" a job he too would be run out of town !

  21. Offer a cabinet seat to this self-important, uncaring sociopath??????

  22. Belmont is not his "hometown" - he bought a condo and spends nearly no time there. His wife is sometimes spotted walking around, but judging from all their other luxury homes, this was just a residence to claim Massachusetts residency. (My parents live in the same development.)

But to answer the question this post asks: I don't think Mitt Romney has any feelings. Okay, maybe greed, lust for power, and anger at those who do not submit to his will. So maybe angry.

He has plenty of time to go visit his money in its Caribbean hidey-hole, so maybe he'll get a real tan instead of spraying one on.

  23. Were any of these folks genuinely surprised by the election's outcome? If they were then they could not read the handwriting that was writ large on the wall for quite a while. Even post-first-debate, the Romney surge was just that, a surge, which then abated.

The handwriting has been on the wall in every Presidential race in the last 40 or so years save for Gore-Bush and Ford-Carter. If the people involved in the campaigns are surprised, they haven't been doing their homework.

The Presidential part of this election produced no surprises, the Senate races produced a couple of cliff-hangers and the House races a few surprises.

But I would say everyone woke up on Election Day knowing what the results would be.

I did and I'm an amateur.

  25. "Meanwhile, some are suggesting that Obama should offer Romney a cabinet seat"

    Are they f*cking NUTS?!

How about an ambassadorship to the Middle East? I hear there's a new opening...

Give him a bicycle and he can go out proselytizing. It'll feel like he's 18 all over again.
