Man Suspects His Dog is 'Gay', Turns it Over to be Euthanized

In news related to the last post, Jackson, Tennessee shelter reports that a dog owner turned his dog over to be euthanized because he suspected the dog was gay.

Writes the shelter:

"This guy was signed over to RC, not bc he's mean or bc he tears things up, but because... His owner says he's gay! He hunched another male dog so his owner threw him away bc he refuses to have a "gay" dog! Even if that weren't the most assinine thing I've ever heard, its still discrimination! Don't let this gorgeous dog die bc his owner is ignorant of normal dog behavior! He's in kennel 10L and he WILL be put down tomorrow bc there is no room at the inn!"

No update on the dog's fate, but if you're in Tennessee there are plenty of others at the same shelter that need attention as well.

  1. Oh come on. The owner just didn't want to deal with having a dog. Poor little beast. Living in TN would be bad enough.

  4. I went to the shelter page, and it looks like a woman is going to adopt him, thank goodness!

  5. I've an alternate suggestion for which "animal" in this report should be euthanized.

  7. I don't mean this literally, but I want to say the owner of this dog is the one that should be euthanized.

  8. Can't we euthanize the owner instead?

  9. Is it wrong to feel worse for this dog than I do for most people ?

  10. When I was a kid, we had a family friend who brought over her boyfriend and his new dog. Well, our boy dog jumped on top of the other male dog, and though nothing happened the man still ended up returning his dog because of the incident. It was really disgusting of him.

  11. He was rescued!

  12. LOL...that's not unusual behavior among male dogs. I believe it's about being dominate or the alpha dog. And maybe there are gay dogs, and bi dogs...LOL.

  13. Honestly, what I take from this story is the depths of homophobia that some people out here have. Incredible hatred to the point you're wanting to put a dog down because you suspect it's a gay dog? Really?

It's truly unbelievable and mind boggling. Happy the dog was saved!

  14. And some of these bigots would love to be able to do the same to gay humans.

  15. There's a common homophobic myth that all male-homosexual behavior among (non-human) mammals and in (human) prisons is a display of dominance. This explanation was concocted in large part from excluding the possibility that animals and by-and-large-straight men can (want to) have sex with other males for pleasure.

  16. Kyle, you're an idiot.

Take some psyche course and get back to us in, oh, 4 years, OK ?

Prison rape is not homosexuality, you drooling revisionist 'tard !

  17. Bet this isn't the last time we hear this ruse to get people to take a pit bull. People sure are gullible.

  18. Dear "WHAWHAWHA":

KYLE did not say anything about prison rape. Although rape occurs in prisons, and is - obviously - horrific, consensual same-sex sexual behavior also occurs in prisons.

By the way, readers of this site who have developmentally disabled family members and/or friends may not appreciate your use of the word "'tard."

  19. Of course there is homosexual behavior in the animal kingdom! Still this gay mutt deserves a home! ( I have big goofy mutt myself- not sure if he is gay- I had another dog who had no interest in any type of sex)

  20. If you can't show love and compassion for a dog- don't get one. Literally, that's the main thing they are good for. The unwavering kindness, love, loyalty they show you. If you can't appreciate that and want to throw them out like yesterdays trash, by all means, do yourself, and the poor dog a favor...don't get one t begin with.

  21. I had a former neighbor who dumped his dog in the shelter for this very same reason! He saw the dog humping another male dog and wanted no part of having a 'gay dog.' Never underestimate the stupidity and hate of human beings. Ever.

  22. that is stupid! poor doggy... :(
