Inspiring Voices Sing Out at San Francisco 'Freedom to Marry' Day Demonstration: VIDEO

There were plenty of V-Day demonstrations for marriage equality in cities all across the country yesterday. One was at City Hall in San Francisco, where the years-long struggle against Prop 8 continues. Fourteen people were taken out of City Hall in handcuffs after a planned act of civil disobedience. They were not cited or arrested.

Activist Sean Chapin was there to capture some of the powerful words spoken (and sung) at yesterday's City by the Bay Freedom to Marry Day demo.

  1. It must really put a cramp on the smug that California doesn't have gay marriage and Iowa does. Moreover, that there are states where marriage has been established in the legislature rather than the courts. Golly, it simply can't be that Podunk is hipper than San Francisco, can it?

  2. As a former Iowan now living in California, it does suck! It just goes to show the power of money in evil hands.

  3. @DAVID HEARNE -- kindly go to hell! CA lost marriage equality because of evildoing churches. Iowa has few catholics or mormons in comparison.
@ everyone else -- why are these demonstrations not in front of every catholic church and the residence of the evil archbishop who perpetrated Prop 8 by calling in Utah mormons to decieve California parents into voting for hatred?

  4. @ Bob, honey , sweetie. How do you feel about hate speech laws? How do you feel about gun control? San Francisco is the biggest bunch of hypocrites in the country, a Baptist tent meeting notwithstanding.

You lost marriage because the blacks and hispanics sold you down the river and you make excuses for them. You have no respect for the constitution, and yet you try to wrap yourself in it.

Marriage will come, but it's only justice that California be last to get it.

  5. David, you don't make any sense. I'd like to tell you how, but there's not enough sense there to start weaving a thread. :( Now my brain is damaged because we're all drowning in no sense. :( Not so close to Purim, David. Not so close to Purim! :( It's inappropriate.

  6. Hey Joe, maybe you just aren't very bright?
