Hawaii Faces Tuesday Deadline on Marriage Equality Bill

Hawaii is facing a Tuesday deadline to hear the marriage equality bill.

Hawaii United for Marriage is planning a lobby day at the Capitol rotunda in a couple of hours (11:30 am) for those of you in the Aloha State:

We’re working hard to talk to as many voters as possible about the importance of contacting their legislator and urging them to support HB 1109. Join us on Monday, February 11th at the Capitol Rotunda in Honolulu with hundreds of supporters making their voices heard by speaking face to face with their legislators.

Unless a hearing is on the books by Tuesday, the marriage bill will not advance this year.

  1. Hopefully marriage equality does in fact pass this year in Hawaii. Anyone have any updates on the likelihood of the marriage equality bill being scheduled for a hearing?

  3. heading into honolulu to the capitol in about a half hour to demonstrate to get the bill out on the floor for consideration, its not a done deal yet. it will feel good to put my body out there where it has a chance of counting.

  5. As long as Donna Mercado Kim is the Senate President, this won't pass in Hawaii.

  6. ^^^People said the same about Mike Miller as the Senate President in Maryland.

  7. Andy, would you please include Kaua'i in future depictions of Hawai'i? When depicting other states you do it so beautifully (like Oregon today which I thought was just great) - please do Hawai'i justice and include all of its population centers! Thanks.

  8. Stu - Is DMK a homophobe? I figured it wouldn't pass because nothing gets done around here like the rest of the world.

After 22 years here, I think it's time to go...
