Iran President Ahmadinejad Wants to ‘Sacrifice’ Himself for Science and Be Sent into Space

Iran President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad wants to be his country's first astronaut, the AP reports:

AhmadinejadPresident Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Monday that he's ready to take the risk of being the first Iranian astronaut sent into space as part of Iran's goal of a manned space flight.

"I'm ready to be the first Iranian to sacrifice myself for our country's scientists," the official IRNA news agency quoted him as saying in an address to space scientists in Tehran.

Space tourist Anousheh Ansari was the first Iranian to make a journey into space aboard a Soyuz TMA-9 capsule from Baikonur, Kazakhastan, in September 2006. The 40-year-old telecommunications entrepreneur paid a reported $20 million for a space station visit. Her journey became an inspiration to women in male-dominated Iran.

Iran sent a monkey into space last week.

Which prompted John McCain to put in his racist $.02.

Inspiring reaction from many, including lawmakers:

Seeing that, Michigan congressman Rep. Justin Amash, 32, shot back. “Maybe you should wisen up & not make racist jokes,” Amash tweeted.

Not everyone on the right agreed with Amash. Conservative John Podhoretz, for example, Tweeted this: "How dare McCain say something demeaning & disparaging abt the foremost anti-Semite on the planet." And this: "So…it's defend-the-Jew-hater-from-the-war-hero day."

“I’m ready to be the first Iranian to sacrifice myself for our country’s scientists,”

I’m sure you’re not. I’m sure attempts at nuclear refinement and chemical warfare production has sacrificed many more Iranians by your country’s scientists.

That’s a grand idea. In his trip to outer space, Ahmadinejad could also further scientific knowledge of human anatomy in a weightless environment by launching into orbit with a dildo up his ass—all in the interest of science, of course.

If anything does go wrong on that ship, you can bet the Iranians will blame the Isrealis. As for Ahmandinejad: let him go into space remain trapped up there with no food or water for 444 days.

I think it’s a great idea. He didn’t say anything about coming back.

McCain’s a dotty old man, but his tweet wasn’t any more racist that that stupid VW ad.

I once saw a heading, “Bush to go to Mars,” which led to a serious of jokes as people pretended to take it literally: “When does he leave.”

Maybe we can send Ahmaqinejad to Mars too, to keep Bush company.

(BTW, the misspelling of his last name is on purpose – someone fluent in Farsi told me about its use by people who don’t like him as “ahmaq” in Farsi means “stupid” or “stupid person”, and you get that with only a one-letter change to Ahmadinejad’s name.)

Oh noes! Andy Towle is worried about “racism”! Hey Andy, Iranians are not a “race” and McCain’s tweet was not directed at all Iranians, but to an individual psychopath who BTW executes gay people by hanging.

Not only are you a dullard, Andy Towle, but you have permitted posts on this blog by Kiwi encouraging violent acts against a news organization. You failed to take down those posts even after you were warned about them. Your blog is becoming a bigger fail every day.

is it standard procedure that when you’re a failed republican presidential candidate you have to spend the rest of your time in the limelight appealing to the folks who are still bitter about being forced to Integrate?

  8. MIKE says

@MIKE: quit using other people’s names. You posted this stuff under a different name before.

There is more than one Mike on here and they aren’t annoying like the above poster.

  9. THE REAL MIKE says

I think Sen. McCain should grow up and act like the elder statesman he once was. That tweet is just looking childish. He used to be respectable but over the past couple years he has turned in Grandpa Simpson.

  10. terry says

whatever credibilty McCain had as a war hero he gave away years ago. Now he’s just a gumpy old man who is clinging to the bigoted right wing attitudes of his war hero days. The greatest generation has proven time after time that it was a generation endorsing segregation, gay bashing, and xenophobia.

President Imanutjob’s phony macho posturing along with his “there are no gays in Iran” indicates that he is not very confident about his own masculinity. A guy like this with nuclear weapons is extremely dangerous.
