Manti Te'o's Hoaxer Says He's a Recovering Homosexual, Like 'a Recovering Drug Addict'

Wednesday I posted a clip of Manti Te'o hoaxer Ronaiah Tuiasosopo telling Dr. Phil that he is gay and confused. In a new clip Tuiasosopo reveals that he really is confused, labeling himself a "recovering homosexual".

  1. Kim, go away you fool and stop comparing gayness with sexual abuse. B-tch!

  2. Before judging him, you might want to find out what his therapist thinks (if he has one). That's on the theory that it is bad form to ridicule the mentally ill.

Other than that, a "recovering homosexual" is simply a guy trying some temporary abstinence in the hope that, the next time he does it, he'll "explode."

  3. Do people really believe that this wasn't deliberately set up by Manti Teo? Cmon, they were in this together.

  4. i hate that I'm about to type this, truly I do, but I'm incredibly skeptical of his abuse allegations. for one simple reason: "i was abused" is the cri de coeur of far too many in very conservative religious denominations when dealing with their "unwanted homosexuality" and issues and "being gay" and being, sorry, found out and busted for being gay.

does this mean it for sure didn't happen? no. does this mean all those who claim abuse are lying? no, of course not.

but i think we can all agree than whenever these bogus "i'm religious and i'm struggling with homosexuality" folks can pull out some claim to abuse, that is never followed up with prosecution of said abusers, it should be noted.

abuse doesn't make one gay. many young people are abused *because* the perp sees "gayness" in them, or they fit the mold of isolated youths who can be taken advantage of.

but so far everything about this whole debacle seems both incredibly odd and incredibly typical of specific patterns.

too soon to judge, so we'll all have to wait for more. but "i was abused" is all too often used as some "get out of jail free" card by people who get publicly shamed via a contentious Outing.
