Eagle Scout Delivers 120,000 Petitions Calling on 'National Geographic Channel' to Denounce Boy Scouts' Gay Ban: VIDEO

Eagle Scout Will Oliver today delivered more than 120,000 petitions to the National Geographic Channel calling on the network to denounce Boy Scouts' ban on gay scouts and leaders, GLAAD reports.

Tonight is the premiere of Are You Tougher Than a Boy Scout?, a show that has been revealed to be a thinly-veiled commercial for the organization.

Oliver would like National Geographic Channel to issue the following disclaimer before episodes of Are You Tougher Than a Boy Scout?:

The current membership policy of the Boy Scouts of America goes against the policy of National Geographic Channel and the National Geographic Society. National Geographic Channel is an equal opportunity employer and does not support discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation.

Oliver and GLAAD will meet with a National Geographic Channel spokesperson following the petition delivery.

  3. When I was a kid, us row house and working class kids thought that guys who were Boy Scouts were dorks. Will Oliver sure proves that we were wrong.

  4. SO proud of their efforts! Congrats! and hope it makes some actual change in policy. I'm sure the Boyscouts are feeling the pressure of their discriminatory policies.

  5. This is very noble. Gay kids shouldn't be penalized from participating in the Boys Scout simply for who they inherently are. They just want to live, and experience this program like all other people their age.
