Colorado Civil Unions Bill Headed for Full House Vote After Appropriations Committee Approves It

The Colorado Civi Union Act, SB-11, is headed to the full House after it was approved today in a bipartisan 9-4 vote by the Colorado House Appropriations Committee. The Senate passed the bill on February 11, and Governor John Hickenlooper says he will sign it, so it's just one vote away from becoming law.

It will be interesting to see if states are going to be more wary about civil union votes now, in the wake of Obama’s “8 State Solution” SCOTUS brief. What do you think, @ari_ezra_waldman?

Hallelujah! Great news. Colorado has made huge progress since the days it passed a bill outlawing non-discrimination laws at the local and state level. It will be nice to have one more pro-family state. Next step, legalization of marriage.
