I have very high expectations for this given the cast and director involved, plus the Weinstein’s involvement give it cred for Oscar bait.

  2. Brent says

Yawn. Note how Weinstein, a known liberal, seems to be reluctant to get too involved with movies with homosexual male themes. Keep on avoiding us, libs, and you’ll definitely lose the next election.

Oh, and what does a man know about lesbians? Sexist liberal males think they own lesbians.

Todd’s a God. I’m so glad he’s doing this. Highsmith was an amazing writer whose life story deserves big-screen treatment. I recently read her last novel “small g” which is set in Switzerland is surprisingly lighter in tone than her other work.

Oh please. One of the Weinstein’s most famous movies is The Crying Game, which practically put their Miramax Films company on the map. They also released numerous gay-themed movies including Paris Is Burning, Priest, The Talented Mr Ripley, and one of Todd Haynes’ previous movies, The Velvet Goldmine. More recently, they released A Single Man and heavily campaigned for it during awards season. Not to mention, the highly acclaimed documentary Bully.

    Jason/Brian/Brent MASSIVE FAIL.

I love “The Price of Salt.” Never knew the book had an alternative title. “Carol” sounds so boring–hope they use the real title.

Ripper, there’s no point in trying to reason with trolls. They are very much aware of the facts, but say ignorant things just to rile us up.

@Mateo: I’m not trying to reason with him. You can’t reason with a retarded parrot.

I’m countering his claims with facts for people who may find this page through google.

Can they get Tina Turner to sing “What’s Love Got To Do With It?”
“Far From Heaven” had beautiful cinematography. It’s always summer in LA.

I think it’s time for a “Brokeback Mountain” sequel. Seems that every film can be made into one. The new film would incorporate a longer tent scene, and more willing participants. Any casting suggestions?
