RoadJoss Whedon tells Wesleyan grads: "You are all going to die".

RoadBehind the Candelabra was "too gay" for the big screen. Soderbergh: "Nobody would make it. We went to everybody in town. We needed $5 million. Nobody would do it...They said it was too gay. Everybody. This was after Brokeback Mountain, by the way. Which is not as funny as this movie. I was stunned. It made no sense to any of us...[The people at HBO are] great and they're really good at what they do, and ultimately I think more people will see it, and that's all you care about. Studios were going, 'We don't know how to sell it.' They were scared."

RoadFrench anti-gay activist speaks out about protests: "The government is extremely surprised and annoyed by the breadth and the length, the duration of the movement. Francois Hollande had not anticipated that allowing same-sex marriage and adoption would create such a concern about so many people in France. He did this promise to satisfy a small lobby, particularly active lobby, who financed his presidential campaign. He didn’t anticipate that same-sex marriage was meaning in France adoption and plenary adoption – which immediately triggers the risk of losing the biological link between the kid and his parents. And in France this is very unique. And people are protesting against that to defend the right of children."

  1. I've always wanted Canada to be known around the world, but not this way. Thanks Rob Ford.

  2. The Hitler teapot is the funniest picture I've seen in a while.

  3. Rob Ford and Chris Christi should have a belly bumping comtest

  4. Hitler was just a misunderstood artist. Rejection is the most brutal of human conditions and young Adolf underwent the metamorphosis into the monster of our historical lore by his rejection from art school. See him his happiest and read all about it at http://dregstudiosart.blogspot.com/2010/02/happy-little-hitler.html

  5. Dolphin assisted birth?!- the dolphins are having a good laugh over these goofy humans

  6. Behind the Candelabra isn't too gay. It's too fruity. Like Liberace. M. Douglas is just being a smartass to play the role and M. Damon will soon be saying "what was I thinking." Yuk.

  7. I get it. I do. But I think it's a tiny, wee bit tacky to talk about how McCain loves war. The man was a battered, tortured POW during Vietnam. It just came off a little distasteful. He may be a terrible politician, but I don't think anyone should mock McCain and war. He's known it more than most.

  8. Regarding the anti gay marriage arguments in France - it is nonsense to say that ""adoption – which immediately triggers the risk of losing the biological link between the kid and his parents". Adoption implies that a child has no parents, or no parents able and willing to care for him/her.

  9. Good on Soderbergh for exposing the homophobia of Hollywood liberals. I've said it before and I'll say it again: liberals are more homophobic than conservatives.

  10. You are mistaken, Brent, by thinking that Hollywood execs are liberal. But then, you do seem the type to believe anything Fox news says.

  11. The hitler teapot billboard is like 15 minutes by my house. It'll probably be taken down before I get back to LA. What a shame. Its funny.

Brent/Rick/Jason's anti-liberal rant was tired from the get-go. Now it's just sad. And irritating. But mostly sad.

  12. Isn't it time we organized anti-Christianity walks all around the world?

An organization that had made so many suffer. That had raped indiscriminately, had murdered indiscriminately, had stolen indiscriminately, had been allowed so far to spread hatred, bigotry, racism and all sorts of disturbingly un-Jesus-like phobias, with very little to no retribution.

Isn't it time we too organized anti-Christianity marches so to let them hear how much we despise and have come to disapprove of their politics, even, their existence?

Let's see if they feel comfortable enough keeping on spreading the hate, or rather strategically revert to keeping a low profile for a while so not to attract attention on their past deeds anymore.

  13. The fact that an acclaimed director like Soderbergh couldn't get funding from liberal Hollywood is very telling. Hollywood fears the sensuality of the male-male erotic interaction.

    Posted by: Brent | May 28, 2013 6:21:22 PM

  14. The link to the full article on Soderbergh takes you to a whole series of comments which suggest that liberals find male-male erotica repulsive. Their public support of gay rights is completely different from their private views.

  15. Conservatives love gays. Just ask my conservative parents. They didn't drown me, they just had me castrated and lobotomized. Because unlike liberals, they accept gays. As long as we can't have sex or think.

  16. How the F did a guy like Rob Ford manage to get elected mayor of Toronto? The guy's whole family have a less than distinguished past.

Maybe one day we'll know the whole truth about Hitler, his family background, and a few other tibits. It's still too sensitive a subject.

    Posted by: ratbastard | May 28, 2013 6:33:46 PM

  17. this is how Ford got elected.

    http://torontoist.com/2010/10/which_wards_voted_for_who_for_mayor/

it was predicted, in the mid-90s, when the city's different districts united into one big "megacity" that it would spell disaster for the city, with the suburbs deciding what happens in the actual city.

lo and behold, that's what happened.

the purple section is the City of Toronto - the blue, surrounding suburbs. we have an anti-City majoy voted in by anti-city suburbanites voting on what happens in the CITY.

it's been a nightmare. you'd think the man smokes crack.

    oh wait. he does.

  18. OK UFFDA, we get that Liberace isn't your kind of gay. But he was still fabulous. Stop worrying about your image and just be yourself.

  19. Re the issue of Soderbergh not being able to get funding from liberal Hollywood for his Liberace movie, here's a pearler from a friend of mine regarding the liberal attitude to male homosexuality: liberals like us publicly but think we're gross privately.

  20. seriously...people see hitler in that billboard? really??

does anyone under 30 who hasn't taken world history even know what hitler looks like?

    Posted by: northalabama | May 28, 2013 9:41:51 PM

  21. I work in Hollywood, Brent. As a writer.

Hollywood is not controlled by liberals. Far from it. It is wholly owned and controlled by Conservative Corporations far removed from the liberals who are lucky enough to get any project green lighted.

But, Brent, as usual, you continue to make an embarrassing babbling fool out of yourself.

Posted by: Baron Zamundi | May 28, 2013 11:02:02 PM

  22. Is that kettle billboard interwebz babble some kind of guerrilla marketing? Trolls? Concerted effort to badmouth J.C. Penny [who shouldn't even still exist in 2013]? That it's in L.A. is telling.

    No mas.
