  3. Unlike criticizing someones appearance, that is very new.

  4. Too many guys at the dance told you they were "Bi" because they weren't interested in you. In my sphere at that age, Bi meant closet case--and even the suggestion of being aroused by women might have been considered "bait" to some, I was militant -- you're gay!
Face it. I didn't live in a world where woman were sex objects.

  5. Appearance wise, I have always been attracted to guys that look similar to Dan Savage, Adam Levine and that hotty Steve Carelle; slim face with long thick necks. Wide faces like Dicarprio, Matt Damon, Joe Manganiello, Henry Cavill, Chris Helmsworth types do nothing for me.

  6. He can stop being my gay spokesperson already.

  7. Articulate, passionate, witty, sex-positive, photogenic, yeah, what an awful spokesperson.

It's not Dan's fault that the media doesn't seem particularly interested in finding more LGBT people to advocate for the LGBT community. Anyway, Dan only reached this level of prominence two or three years ago when the It Gets Better Project went viral. The media sought HIM out, and he decided to do something with it. We are our own worst enemy, I swear.

As for the bi stuff, I'm glad he continues to clarify his position. But a huge swath of bi activists have demonized Dan for years and they don't seem all that enthused about changing their mind about him.

  8. I've had enough experience with young dudes who claimed they were 'bi' and later admitted they were gay that I totally understand where one would look askance at someone under 21 claiming to be bi. Really? Get back to me in 5 years. Of course, I came of age in the 80's so maybe it's different now (kind of doubt it). This puts me firmly in the 'completely agree' with Savage on this topic camp.

However, what I want to know is who ever accused Savage of being bi-phobic? It makes it sound as though it was a huge deal at some point but I really can't find any claims or bruhaha about it!

  9. Is Andy censoring comments on this thread?

  10. Teehee, I'm having a hard time picturing how you could lump the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio and Joe Manganiello and Henry Cavill, and Chris Hemsworth together. They are completely different types.

  11. Certain comments are not being posted on this thread. Andy, are you censoring comments? If so, it would make a mockery of your activism.

  12. WELL, WELL, WELL ..... THANK YOU Towleroad. THIS ARTICLE IS PERFECT.

I ASSUME Dan Savage READS Towleroad. I JUST TRIED TO MAKE A COMMENT ON Stranger ABOUT AN ARTICLE Mr. Savage WROTE ABOUT CLIMATE CHANGE. I WAS MERELY GOING TO COMMENT ON CLIMATE CHANGE; BUT, SINCE I WAS BARRED FROM COMMENTING, I WILL "GO-OFF."

I ASSUME Mr. Savage HAS READ MY COMMENTARY ABOUT HIS "husband" AND "adopted son." AND, DID NOT LIKE IT. AND, I IMPLIED I WOULD PURCHASE HIS NEW BOOK.

THIS "say something nice about us, or, you will be banned," SAYS A LOT TO THOSE WHO ATTENTIVELY READ.

  14. It really pains me to say the following comment because much, very much of what Dan Savage has done over the years has been beneficial to the LGT and even B community. This video clip, however, was produced predominantly I suspect more to protect the "Dan Savage" brand than to address his admitted past anti-bisexual statements, laughingly mentioned only in asides during his monologue I must point out regrettably, without him ever uttering the simple phrase: "I am sincerely sorry for having been dead wrong about the very essence of whom you are, my bisexual brothers and sisters." Not one note of apology for fueling in very many instances personal prejudices paraded as "fact." This video has given me one seriously sad day, as it must for anyone who may have once admired this man for his otherwise helpful work. The video was as self-serving as any monologue I've ever seen by an individual who has gained fame while making major moral errors along the way, as many mere humans like ourselves all do. The difference is that he seems remorseless, more concerned with his brand being tarnished by those critics who were on to something just and true years ago. Without him acknowledging that, he has become a great disappointment to me as well as many others still possessing critical thinking skills that are applied to every public person, whether they are straight, lesbian, gay transgender or his frequently maligned target of bisexuals. Snap out of it Dan, summon some humility from deep inside of your soul, and just say: “I made frequent statements that were deeply hurtful and dismissive of bisexuals, and for the pain they caused and the ignorance they fostered, I am truly sorry!”.

  15. Women find male bisexuality a threat because it represents competition.

Women can compete with other women for the sexual affections of men by putting on their make-up or revealing skirt. However, this strategy is rendered almost pointless if she has to compete with a man for the affections of men. Men have animalistic sex drives which can annihilate any strategy she adopts to attract men. Male bisexuality thus represents a competitive threat to her.

  16. "Tom Cardellino,"

I KNOW NOTHING OF Dan Savage's views ON "bisexuality." BUT, IT IS VERY STRANGE THAT HOMOSEXUALS WANT TO EMBRACE A GROUP OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE BROUGHT NOTHING BUT HEARTACHE TO THEM - HOMOSEXUALS WHO HAVE FALLEN IN LOVE WITH "don't know who I am" bisexuals KNOW WHAT I MEAN.

  17. So fing sexy. Just sexy. F. See, I don't have crushes on people I don't know generally; I don't think of myself as a starfer, for example. But I admire intensely thinkers whose works I've imbibed and bounced around in my head. And dannyboy is one such thinker. And with the humanity of him talking, dang, it's so fing sexy! It's weird, cuz here I don't agree with him at all really here on this topic. But I've thought of him as a sex god of sorts for long enough that just watching him and hearing his voice makes me just see pretty, not caring what it's saying. And I don't even think of him as my type necessarily or conventionally attractive in the strictest terms. That is his enigma. Hahahah. All I got to this.

  18. "Just_a_guy,"

YOUR COMMENTARY REMINDS ME OF A Towleroad comment I MADE ABOUT Senator John Edwards (D-NC). THAT IS WHY I JUST FOCUS ON THE PHYSICAL AND LEAVE PEOPLE'S MINDS ALONE.

  19. I JUST WATCHED THIS VIDEO. Mr. Savage MENTIONED A SCIENTIFIC STUDY WHICH IDENTIFIED AND MEASURED bisexual patterns OF SEXUAL AROUSAL. THAT IS CRAP! YES - I BELIEVE THERE ARE SOME PEOPLE WHO HAVE A HIGH LIBIDO WHICH DICTATES SEX WITH ANY-/EVERYONE. BUT, LOVE IS A NATURAL PARTNER TO SEX. WHO WILL bisexuals LOVE? ..... THE SAME-SEX PARTNER. CASE CLOSED.

  20. When was the last time you saw a Craigslist ad from someone describing himself as bisexual who was looking for a woman to have sex with?

  21. There isn't a "bi" community the way there is a "gay" community. They just bounce around until they settle.
