NOM Chair to Testify Before House Panel Over Alleged IRS Leak

Last month Towleroad reported that NOM's Brian Brown was demanding an investigation over a 990-B tax form it claims was leaked by the IRS to the Human Rights Campaign, following uproar over reports that the IRS targeted conservative groups.

EastmanThe Hill reports that six groups have been "scheduled to give first-person accounts of the IRS’s targeting of conservative organizations" before the House Ways and Means Committee tomorrow:

John Eastman, the president of the National Organization for Marriage (NOM) – a prominent group opposing same-sex marriage – is among those scheduled to appear, after NOM announced plans last month to sue the IRS.

...Four of the other groups that have representatives scheduled to testify – the Laurens County Tea Party, the Wetumpka Tea Party, the San Fernando Valley Patriots and the Linchpins of Liberty – are all among the roughly 25 groups taking part in a lawsuit against the IRS filed by the American Center for Law and Justice.

  1. What's up with this sh*t? The Republican't Party asked the IRS to look into the Tea Party donations. Why now is the fan all brown from all the stuff hitting it?

  2. Is he going to explain why his terrorist group violated tax and campaign laws?

  3. He should chin up and turn over their donations info like SEVERAL courts had ruled they must.

Oh. He doesn't HAVE a chin!

    Never mind.

  6. I try to refrain from making comments about people's appearance, but John Eastman looks like a carp -- i.e., a bottom feeder.

  7. Well, now, let's see. Republicans control the House. NOM is a supporter of Republican causes and vice versa. I can imagine that Mr. Eastman will not waste the opportunity to play the evangelical, victimization card for all its worth. I can also imagine that the Republican majority will aid and abet in this travesty and waste of American taxpayer dollars. Vote the g*ddam Republicans out in 2014!

  8. What a deutschbag trying to ride the wave of what is probably an unrelated matter. Unless he has proof it was the IRS and not someone internally at NOM who leaked the form, he has no right to demand anything. The only perceived link that NOM's tax form has with the IRS is that the tax for was sent to the IRS. An investigation as to where the leak was is needed before he can take action against the IRS...if someone at the IRS was the one who leaked it. And even then, it doesn't necessarily warrant time in front of congress.
