NOM's Brian Brown: SCOTUS Ruling a 'Stench', 'an Illegitimate Decision', 'Rewarding Corruption'

National Organization for Marriage President Brian Brown is unhinged over the Supreme Court rulings on marriage:

Brian_brown"In a miscarriage of justice the US Supreme Court has refused to consider the decision of a single federal court judge to overturn the perfectly legal action of over 7 million California voters who passed Proposition 8 defining marriage as the union of one man and one woman," said Brain Brown, NOM's president. "The Supreme Court's holding that proponents of an initiative had no legal right to appeal ignores California law and rewards corrupt politicians for abandoning their duty to defend traditional marriage laws. It's imperative that Congress continue to preserve the right of states to protect true marriage and refuse to recognize faux marriages performed in other states or countries."

"There is a stench coming from this case that has now stained the Supreme Court. They've allowed corrupt politicians and judges to betray the voters, rewarding them for their betrayal. It's an illegitimate decision. We and millions of other Americans will refuse to accept this rogue decision rewarding corruption. " Brown said.

"We also urge Congress to reject the inevitable attempts to dismantle remaining elements of DOMA, including the right of states to refuse to recognize so-called gay marriages performed elsewhere. The vast majority of American voters have expressed with their votes their desire to maintain marriage as the union of one man and one woman. That decision should be respected and left undisturbed."

"The only other saving grace of the Supreme Court's decisions today is that they refused to go along with the urgings of Ted Olsen and David Boies to find a constitutional right to same-sex ‘marriage,'" Brown said. "The plaintiffs failed in their primary objective, which is a major victory for those defending Proposition 8, especially Chuck Cooper and his firm, along with the attorneys at the Alliance Defending Freedom, and Andy Pugno of the Prop 8 Legal Defense Fund."

  1. The only "stench" is coming from his own pantaloons...where he shat when he heard the good news!

  2. Hopefully right-minded people will hear and see the hatred coming from NOM and this man. He is entitles to his opinion but it is always an intersting point that SCOTUS is godd when they uphold that conservative perspective but evil and corrupt when they don't. These are bets legal minds in the United States and it si their job to do exactly what they did. All the individuals who didn't get their way, need to move on and find yet another group to hate on, it is what it is and it is a victory for Human and Civil Rights in the US, now to convince 35 other states to come into the 21st Century will be the challenge. Hopefully these hateful, ignorant and uninformed trolls will go away. Dare we hope?

  3. he should be happy! he has 8 children. with this news today, at least one of them (at LEAST one of them...) can take solace in knowing that even though Daddy is a Hateful Bigot, the court and the government are on "their" side.

be happy, Brown! this great news today may just be the one thing that prevents you from having a Rick Warren moment at your own kid's funeral!

  4. He really is revolting.

However much I disagree with anti-abortion campaigners, I've never gotten the sense that they're anywhere near as cynical as this man -- he's so clearly just leading his crusade to cash in on its financial rewards.

  6. Don't be fooled by the hateful rhetoric Brown spews. He's only mad because he know it's just one more nail in the coffin of his cash-cow!

As much as I loath Mag-pie, at least she had the smarts to jump ship before it went down!

  7. In the words of Nancy Pelosi, when responding to Michelle "I married a gay dude" Bachman: WHO CARES? Ignore this nugget of nothing. His brand of crazy helps our cause. Better yet - I'll pay for his ticket to spend time *in public* with Westboro Baptist Church. Frothing crazy helps sane folks understand how their hatred really looks.

  9. I couldn't agree more, Edmonton Dave.

When things go their way it's "God's will", when it doesn't its evil activist judges/politicians, etc...

They can't even wrap the thought that this IS God's will (for those who believe, myself not included) around their tiny little brains!

  11. Brian Brown claims victory.
This is what I expected with Prop 8 being overturned on 'standing'.

No Brian. There was no SCOTUS decision other than standing on Prop 8. And that reflects as a victory for equality.

What was made abundantly clear in Justice Kennedy's ruling on DOMA however was this wording: 'The States’ interest in defining and regulating the marital relation, subject to constitutional guarantees'

That little part right there .... subject to constitutional guarantees ... that's the part you need to pay attention to. There's your fail. The next case to come to SCOTUS will have standing Brian. No more escape hatches.

  12. Eh, he's a clown. I'm not even sure what his true motivation is. Whatever it is, it isn't what he's telling people. He isn't stupid, but he is pretty good at manipulating stupid people, and apparently has little or no dignity. It's an ugly combination.

  13. The only remedy for you, Brian, is to pack up and leave America. Bye.

  14. Is that picture of Brian from today? I see the evil Frank Schubert in the background. There's another one who is watching his meal ticket got up in smoke.

  15. The only stench is you, go away and start a diet so that you eight kids have a father. If I can't say that of you and your fat ass then you have no right to anything about my life. I did not choose it but I love it, it is mine. You can choose to not go back for another big Mac. Yet our whole nation pays for that choice.

  16. From now on anyone who encounters this piece of scum should throw coins at him and let him know the well is drying up.

  17. Cry more, Brian. The tears and rage from butthurt ring-wing religious bigots like you make me so h*rny.

  18. BTW.....the congress you want to make some decision can not decide whether to scratch an ass or wind their clock Do you really think they can do anything you want them to do? They are afraid of bunny rabbits and ponies.

  19. This is all about raising $$$$ - they don't want their gravy train from the bigots to end...

  20. No, Brian, that's the stench of an overweight, bitter closet case who is choking on the dust of progression.

  21. personally, I don't know how a church can rate an exemption from obeying ANY law of the country and state where it is incorporated let along an exemption for gay marriage. That would mean I could start a a church that allows and practices slavery and nobody could do a thing about it. Betcha that would not go over well. Or for that matter the churches which disallow miscegenation weddings. I think if they want to be licensed as an entity in the US they have to follow all the ones that are in effect (I know the argument of the peyote smokers) as in render unto Ceasar etc; which is exactly what Christ was meaning in that statement. And they believe every word is true so they can't pick and choose which laws they want to obey.
