UFC Fighter Josh Thomson: Gay Marriage Leads to Polygamy, Pedophilia, and Incest

UFC fighter Josh Thomson says "I don't care" about gay marriage but he sure does have a lot of opinions about it.

5th Round reports: Thomson

Thomson sparked a heated debate by posting this question on his Facebook page: “Should you be allowed to marry whoever you want? Before you answer that, should u be allowed to have more than 1 wife?”

Not too big of a deal, but things got really testy when Thomson responded to a friend who asked “Should you be allowed to decide what other sound-minded adults do with their lives?”

“I’m only asking a question,” Thomson countered. “My next question is, should siblings be allowed to marry siblings? My point is, where do you draw the line? I personally don’t care who you marry but I also am smart enough to know that it opens a gateway to men/women trying to marry young kids, siblings marrying each other and people having multiple husbands an wives. You have to think all of these things are okay otherwise your stopping them from being happy as well which is hypocrisy. Equality doesn’t stop with gay marriage, it just starts with it.

“I’m not against gay marriage, I’m also not for it. I don’t care! I do care what it may lead to In the future once you change the definition of marriage for gay marriage. You can’t say that it doesn’t open the door way for other topics like I mentioned. I know it sounds crazy but people will bring these types of issues to the table once the definition is changed.”

  1. Mr. Thomson's comments are rambling and illogical. Pehaps he's taken too many kicks to the head?

  2. Yep, your comments do sound crazy, Josh, because like so many UFC participants, you get crazy-in-the-head due to your head-bangin' fights. Perhaps, in your particular case, it's better that you just STFU about SSM so all that crazy sh*t doesn't fall outta your flappin' pie hole.

  3. "I personally don’t care who you marry but I also am smart enough to know..."

Um... lol... No, you're a moron. Now STFU. Thank you.

  4. Well another uninformed person wades in with comments that underlie a clear lack of knowledge of common law. Marriage is a legal process to allow for property rights and marriage as defined by most of these people isn't what the Bible says it is. The bible doesn't talk about legal papers and the state definition of what is marriage. The state is simply allowing on paper what can happen regardless, two people coming together in a stable permanent loving relationship. If man/woman marriage was so great why is the divorce rate so high? I think this speak for itself. Also what exactly does an MMA fighter know anymore about than the great legal and theological minds of the day. Gay marriage doesn't destroy society, if that were the case Canada would be in the toilet socially after more than 15 years of gay marriage. Our economy is strong, we are still regarded as one of the best places in the world to live, we haven't been hit by the seven deadly plagues. Seriously, every gay person was born from a straight person and raised in a straight home, where likely they were exposed to divorce and we still want to get married. People are welcome to have their opnions, and they are welcome to have narrow minded views of the world but when they start spouting complete nonsense like marrying children and animals and polygamy, come on, there is a serious difference between the these things. Also for all the peaceful and caring Christians who espouse hate and violence towards gays who want not to lose their jobs or their homes or their families, maybe look in your own backyard first and clean up your own weeds. I think the Bible says love thy neighbourt as thyself, turn the other cheek and remove the stick from your won wye before pointing out the one in your neighbour;s eye. Stop peering ito my bedroom windows and telling me whats wrong with my life. I think we are quite happy despite you thinking othewise.

  5. He says he doesn't care... but cared enough to write about it in a public forum. What a cretin.

  6. Clearly another lemming repeating the anti-gay talking points. The idea that marriage equality leads to incest and polygamy came from one moron's brain and has spread like a nasty infection.

  7. Devil's Advocate:

Who reading this would think it's OK for adults to marry what we consider today in 2013 underage kids?

Who reading this think it would be OK to legalize polygamy?

Who reading this think it would be OK to 'relax' age of consent laws, even legalize underage, AKA 'kiddie' porn?

In the 1970s far left advocates actually were able, in an underhanded fashion, legalize the production, sale, and ownership of child porn in Sweden. By child porn I don't mean young teens, I mean like 5 year olds being raped by adults. One of the guys responsible for attempting to do a similar thing in Germany is a well known present day Green Party politician named Daniel Cohn-Bendit. He was actually a member of EU parliament [MEP], not sure if he still is. He even has publicly admitted he and others ran a school for young children in the 70s where they had what he called a 'F*ck Room', where kids f*cked each other, and adults, including him, had sex with kids. He graphically described how he allowed children to masturbate him. He said children had a 'right' to have sex with each other and adults.

    One phrase: Mission Creep.

I'm OF COURSE 100% for gay marriage. I also want to make damn sure 'radicals' don't get the not so bright idea of extrapolating gay marriage to demands for things such as polygamy, incest, beastiality, etc.,

  9. Based on his comments and his 'profession',

I'm chalking this man up to yet another tragic case of early-onset dementia due to chronic traumatic encephalopathy.

  10. Gay marriage does not make it easier for pedophilia or incest to occur. Clearly this "man" is uninformed. I hope the UFC does something about him or at least distances itself from his comments but they don't seem to care.

  12. I find it fascinating that people who don't care about something sure as heck have alot to say about it.

I don't care about something, I don't spout off about it.

  13. Josh, you're not smart enough ... as that moronic hot mess of a red herring statement attests. Sometimes it's really not important to know at length what idiots think about a civil rights issue they supposedly don't care about.

@ratbastard: "Radicals" or anyone else can push for whatever they want to push for via the legislatures, courts, and the court of public opinion. That's their fight, their business. Nothing you or I can do to stop them. It also has nothing to do with the question of whether same-sex couples should be included or excluded from civil marriage. It's irrational (see: Josh Thompson) to make the leap in logic from one thing to another except as a transparent political tool, one typically employed in the US by the far right "family values" organizations.

  14. The way to respond to these morons is to point out:

    1) inbreeding causes genetic problems, that's why we prohibit incestuous marriages

    2) polygamy causes a host of social problems. Don't even need to travel to some far-flung country, can see it right here in the fundamentalist mormon colonies.
No man is _born_ with a preference to be married to multiple women.

    3) gay marriage does not cause social problems, in fact it corrects an existing social problem

  15. Methinks she doth protest too much.

He's closeted gay, thus the over-reaction and huge smoke screen of "I don't like this!" going on.

"See, everyone? I can't possibly be gay because I spoke out against this issue!"

    "Right?"

    "Right?"

  16. Well, you can see this meat head's got a big mouth. Lots of opinions in there but they're certainly not news. Why's he on here?

  17. Why precisely are we obsessed with what the trash one normally finds in professional sports has to say about gay people?

  18. I expect nothing from someone who physically hurt other people for a living.

  19. With nonsense like that, you have to wonder if we should see if his parents are brother and sister. Of course, there is evidence that inbreeding can be beneficial as well. There's also evidence that impregnating multiple partners can be good as well. There are pros and cons to everything, and usually you should go with which side outweighs the other. But with those two things, the predominant thing that has made them illegal is the "ick factor." Although, there is actually some good reasons not to allow inbreeding, which does make the pros and cons a wash, so the ick factor is just the deciding vote. With "polygamy," there does seems to be heavy consideration with finical concerns, not that anything really stops some men from "spreading their seed."

Long comment short, that guy is a moron. His opinion seems to be completely focused on the ick factor and doesn't take any logic into consideration.

  20. Why does anyone care about what this guy thinks. What social or political standing does he have ? I've never heard of him and from what you're reporting here, I don't care if I even hear about him again. Once again you're feeding into this crap by giving this neanderthal the spotlight.

    Posted by: norseman | Jun 13, 2013 12:46:34 PM

  21. Why do the Christians want to call this a re-definition of marriage? Marriage existed long before the bible. Further, their cherished bible is full of polygamy, but they turn around and then say marriage equality will leady to polygamy? How do we let them get away with this?

  22. I guess he'd know; right, sweetums? You shore have a pretty mouth...

  23. "I'm not against gay marriage...I'm just comparing it to polygamy and incest!"

    Posted by: FuryOfFirestorm | Jun 13, 2013 1:37:43 PM

  24. @Ernie
Got it. Holding equality for LGBT hostage to the possibilities of 'what if's' is appealing to fear tactics for support of anti gay animus.

    @Daniel Cohn-Bendit
He is both Hetero & anti-gay equality, in addition to being a media whore. His advocacy is his and has nothing to do with LGBT. Why bring him into this conversation?

    Posted by: JONES | Jun 13, 2013 1:44:50 PM

  25. @Lincoln Lounger
Marriage redefinition is the meme used for those that accept religious babble as fact without putting in the time to verify it's truth.

Just the mention of 'The BIBLE' is supposed to raise it to unchallengeable fact. For some sadly it is.
