Blogger Known for Outing Homophobic GOP Lawmakers Says Senator John Barrasso (R-WY) is Gay

Barrasso

Mike Rogers, a prominent blogger with a superior track record for outing anti-gay, hypocritical politicians, outed Wyoming Senator John Barrasso yesterday, tweeting:

Tweeet_rogers"@senjohnbarrasso on Chris Wallace had the chance to come out as gay on @foxnewssunday out and be proud. #maybenexttime #bustthehatecloset"

Barrasso, a twice-married Presbyterian with three children, has voted against the repeal of 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' and against the reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act. He has also bragged about his votes against gay marriage.

Said Barrasso in 2004: “I believe in limited government, lower taxes, less spending, traditional family values, local control and a strong national defense. In the state Senate, in addition to receiving an ‘A’ rating from the NRA, I have voted for prayer in schools, against gay marriage and have sponsored legislation to protect the sanctity of life.”

Does Rogers have more up his sleeve? When asked for a statement by activist Will Kohler, Rogers replied, "My tweets stand on their own."

Rogers said in June that at least three anti-gay members of Congress are gay and that one would be outed soon.

Our Kyler Geoffroy noted Rogers' record back in June:

The blogger's most high-profile triumphs include the 2004 revelation that then Rep. Ed Schrock (R-VA) was leaving voicemails on a gay hook-up service, prompting the two-term congressman to retire. In October 2006 he wrote that three men informed him they had sex with then Sen. Larry Craig (R-ID) in bathrooms at Union Station. Before making his allegations against Craig public, two of his three sources signed affidavits saying they would come forward if Rogers was taken to court.

You can see that guy is gay a mile away. Outing? Isn’t that the thing they did in the early ’90s? This is just reporting the obvious.

“Outing” doesn’t exist anymore. Everyone knows an identifiably gay person when they see one and everyone talks about it all the time. There’s no secret handshake and you don’t need to go to the videotape (how quaint!) to know whather someone is probably gay, you just need to be more than two years old.

@Alan. Why should we worry about a government shutdown when there are hungry children? Why should we worry about hungry children when hundreds lost their homes in the Colorado floods? Why worry about the floods when there are helpless ducks dying of chastic paralysis? Etc., etc., etc. Being a concern troll is easy and fun, isn’t it?

  3. rroberts says

My hunch is that Mike Rogers is waiting for Senator Barrasso to first publicly deny any assertion that he is gay, then BAM! – publicly serve up the proof. That would be far more embarrassing and damaging for Barrasso.

If it’s true, this SOB will learn really fast that his efforts to stab his own community in the back weren’t worth it.
The GOP and tea party will turn on him in a heartbeat.

  6. rroberts says

Sorry about the accidental double post.

@Perry … elected officials who lie to the world are the scumbags. Elected officials who vote to suppress LGBT people when they themselves are closeted are the scumbags.

When the kid in the story pointed out that the emperor had no clothes, the kid was NOT a scumbag.

It’s one thing to be in the closet, but when a closeted individual deliberately hurts people, I say “out the SOB because”.

  7. Perry says

Sorry, but outing anyone is only done by scumbags. You may try to justify it by saying he is “hurting the community”, but whether or not he is gay does not make him part of the community. Coming out is a personal and individual process and it is no one’s business to take it upon themselves to out anyone.

  8. Ryan says

Regardless of how correct or wrong he’s been in the past — and it certainly seems he’s had a few successes, at least — his claim that his ‘tweets stand on their own’ is ridiculous.

No one’s tweets stand on their own. They’re 140 characters — and I certainly don’t see his, in this case, linked to any kind of detailed or definitive or even strong proof of any kind.

So, either he should back his stuff up, or stop using Twitter without accompanying posts that provide evidence for his claims.

Doing so may make things a little harder, but will ultimately enhance his credibility, so the next time he ‘outs’ someone it would be a bigger deal.

  9. Daniel Berry, NYC says

Perry your sentiments smack of a misguided concern for the well-being of the closet-case. When the voting and decision-making of that closet-case hurt other gay people, calling them out publicly is fair game. Or have we not seen enough suicides for you?

  10. jjose712 says

    Perry: Sorry but no.

I’m against outing. I don’t want people outing actors, singers or athletes, no matter if they have a beard, no matter if they lie in interviews.

But outing someone who not only lies but work to make gay people lives miserable and to push antigay laws. I’m totally for the outing

  11. theotherlee says

    Only scumbags out people.

    Posted by: Perry | Sep 30, 2013 11:44:34 AM

Only scumbags protest against the outing of scumbags that work against the gay community while being gay, and hiding it.

If you aren’t actively working against the gay community, like Anderson Cooper.. no, I don’t think you should be ‘outed’ … There is a difference.

  12. Perry says

You can justify it all you want to, but it is a scumbag move to do. This moral relativism is just a sad commentary on society. You either have a moral compass or you don’t. It is not anyone’s place to out anyone, no matter how repugnant he or she may be. And for all your concern about young people committing suicide, where is your concern for the children of people who are closeted? You say it isn’t your problem? Well, neither is it your problem what someone’s sexuality is.

Mark Foley. Ted Haggard. Larry Craig. Bob Allen. Glenn Murphy Jr. Ken Mehlman. Charlie Crist (wait for it..it’s gonna happen). George Rekers. Rick Scott (wait for it..it’s gonna happen). Jim Kolbe. Richard Curtis. Bob Bauman. J.Roy Ashburn. Edward L. Schrock. David Dreier. Jim West. G. Harold Carswell. Roy Cohn. Andrew Shirvell.

    and now John Barrasso

the list will most certainly continue

  14. Zlick says

Perry, I see your point – up to a point. But it’s the 21st century, and public officials can no longer expect to have ANY secrets, no matter what type. You may think it’s wrong to Out hypocritical gay Congressmen, or you may think it’s wrong to expose an adulterous affair … but since not everyone will have those same standards of right and wrong about public officials – it is those very public officials who, in modern times, can have zero expectation of secrets staying secret.

If Barrasso is a closeted gay man AND a Congressman hoping to stay closeted who votes against gay right, he’s both a fool and a traitor.

  15. Perry says

Someone give Little Kiwi a hamburger or something. He looks anorexic. Have you gotten your award for Know-it-All Master of the Universe? Your attitude and smugness is reprehensible and most people actually find you to be a joke. Go troll somewhere else to get people to actually follow your sad and pathetic little blog site.

  16. says

Perry, it’s not my fault your balls never dropped and that your intelligence suggests that your parents were siblings.

here’s how it works – if you’re not Out, and part of your “not Out” disguise is to put the targets of hatred on the backs of Other Gay People, then it’s only fitting that those targets get thrown onto YOUR back as well.

not ready to come out? no big deal. as long as your disguise doesn’t involve actively contributing to the culture of anti-gay prejudice that puts LGBT people in the line of fire.

it’s very simple. one need not be an anti-gay bigot whilst closeted.

and yes, i’ve received my award. it’s rather shiny and pretty. as for looking anorexic, i will never apologize for maintaining a fit and trim 29″ waist.

    suck it 😀

  17. Perry says

It is not fit or trim. It is sickly looking. It’s not my fauly you have an eating disorder or that your head is so big and you are so full of yourself and your so called intelligence that you forget to eat enough.

And no, it is not how you see it works. It is how each individual thinks it works for them.

And I would never suck anything on you. You look about as dirty and filthy as a homeless person.

  18. Perry says

He may be a fool and a traitor (assuming there is a correct way to think as a gay man) but his personal choice to come out is his own to make or not to make. You discredit him on the lack of merits of his argument, not by outing. Outing him against his will means you know it is something dirty and want to embarrass him. Coming out should be a relief when the person is ready. It should not be a punishment.

  19. E. Carpenter says

@PERRY – The issue here is not his gayness, it is his hypocrisy.

Out gay activists have demonstrated repeatedly that hypocritical, anti-gay closet cases will be outed, neutral closet cases won’t.

It’s his choice – don’t attack gay people and you’ll be left alone. He has repeatedly attacked gay people.

  20. says

Perry is clearly the product of inbreeding. Pity the fool.

he’s not being punished for not being Out – his hypocrisy is being deservedly Outed – and his cowardly actions of hurting other gay people to save his own @ss deserves this form of Outing.

Perry is no doubt a closeted loon – a GOProud or GayPatriot.net styled insecure dunce.

we know being gay isn’t dirty. that’s why WE are Out.

he puts targets of hatred on the backs of LGBT people – it’s only fair that those targets be placed on his own.

anyone who can’t see this is likely delusional from the daily scent of mothballs filling their nose.

  21. Perry says

Who knew that gay activists were the final word on who should and shouldn’t be outed. I must have missed the memo stating it was their job and they have the moral authority to make that choice for others.

  22. says

yeah you did miss the memo. if you weren’t a closeted hack whose life revolves around alternating through various screen names to vent your impotent fury, you’d have got it 😀

you’re so dumb 😀 guys like you are hilariously sad.

here’s a tip! if you’re closeted and not ready to come out, don’t promote and encourage anti-gay prejudice. ta DAHHH!

now, go make like Sylvia Plath and blow the pilot light out.

  23. Perry says

Little Kiwi must be the byproduct of the breeding of a skank (your mother clearly looks like one) and a dog.

It seems Little Kiwi thinks he knows everything about someone he has never met. Maybe it is all that crack you smoke (you look like a crack whore) that makes you believe you have ESP.

Your delusion that people actually take you or your blog site serious is laughable. Your desperate attempt to gain some kind of 15 minutes of fame is just pathetic. Only other self loathing people in search of affirmation from others read your pathetic site or take anything you say serious.

Like Whitney said, “Crack is Whack”!

  24. Perry says

Poor Little Kiwi must be upset that he looks like Gollum that he makes statements about others that aren’t based any truth. I should take that back, I should insult Gollum by saying he looks like you.

  25. Mary says

Perry, I understand your problems with Kiwi. But why insult his mother? From what I hear, she’s very supportive of her son and does great work for the LGBT community.

I also have been accused of having an obsession with Kiwi. And I’m probably guilty as charged on this. But when I write about him (or TO him) its to try to bring out the best in him, not just to insult for the sake of insulting. Your comments are likely to make him even angrier. Soon he’ll be threatening to take a dump on your grave.

  26. Perry says

Yeah I am free to show myself but have no desire to show myself to a troll like yourself.

Apparently one thing your don’t get in life is 5 square meals a day to eat. There are soup kitchens you can go to and eat something nutritious, unless of course you can’t pry yourself from your own declared self importance.

  27. Perry says

For him to be able to take a dump on my grave he will have to eat something to have something to crap out.

You can’t bring out the best in a bully like him. When a bully slaps you, you have to slap back even harder. He is a pathetic excuse for a man (and I use that word cautiously). I could care less if he gets angry (which I doubt he is). If it walks, like a Gollum (or a skank in his mom’s case), then it is a Gollum (skank).

  28. Brain J says

“When a bully slaps you, you have to slap back even harder.”

Well, Perry, you just proved Little Kiwi and everyone else right. John Barrasso slapped, and the blogger slapped back harder.

Doesn’t it feel good to have the people you hate prove you wrong?

  29. says

People in positions of power who hurt the gay community need to be outed. They are the scumbags and any tactic is fair. Why should they get to hide in the closet? These closet cases have done huge damage to gay. The lone voice agains outing obviously does not know history or remember that scmbag closet case lawyer Cohen who helped Senator Joseph McCarthy destroy the lives of countless people.

  30. Will says

    @Perry

In many cases I would agree. But when said person is actively working against the LGBT community, they are fair game IMO. It’s one thing to hide. Everyone has their reasons, that’s fine. But to hide yourself by harming others, no way.

  31. David Gardner says

Andy, I’m bothered that you give this report such prominence on the blog. no supporting evidence given. it’s one thing to mention that this was reported. It’s another to feature it at the top of your site. It undermines your credibility more than anything else. I know the Senator, disagree with his politics strongly, and have never seen anything to indicate that he is gay. Please return to your usual integrity.

  32. Gay Cowboy says

    From Wikipedia:

“(Dr.) Barrasso was also a rodeo physician for the Professional Rodeo Cowboy’s Association (and a member of the ‘Cowboy Joe Club’) and volunteered as a team physician for Casper College as well as several local high schools.”

  33. Really? says

Come on man! Dr Barraso is obviously a rough rider and really needs to leave the hate train behind………our guy is 4-4 so if he tells me the steer is queer then……………..

  34. steve talbert says

Outing a PUBLIC OFFICIAL who is making decisions that directly affect other people, including me, is not only the right thing to do, it is patriotic. He does not have to run for public office. He does not have to vote the way I think. He just needs to be clear about who he is. If he isn’t gay, then he needs to affirm he is straight or bi.

  35. steve talbert says

The people who think calling someone gay is somehow a ‘horrible’ ‘scumbag’ thing to do have a very homophobic attitude, and if gay, very negative self loathing. Being called gay is no different than being called straight or bi or whatever. If it fits, then no big deal, if wrong, just say so. They used to kill left handed people by burning them at the stake not all that long ago.
