Michele Bachmann: 'God, I’m A Loser'

That's what a new book titled Double Down claims the Republican Congresswoman said to herself after she quit her failed presidential bid in 2012.

The Huffington Post has published an excerpt from the book: 00000403049208

Sitting in her campaign bus, in the same seat where she cried with joy in August, she now sobbed over her drubbing. “God, I’m a loser,” Bachmann said. “God, I turn people off.” With two debates ahead in New Hampshire, some of her advisers thought she should consider staying in the race. Bachmann wanted no part of it. Let’s draft a withdrawal speech for tomorrow, she said.

Double Down focuses on the 2012 presidential campaign and will apparently give a fair amount of attention to Bachmann and her campaign. The book will be released on Tuesday.

If you want to revisit that speech, which took place right after the Iowa caucuses, watch it, AFTER THE JUMP.

  5. Ah Michelle...
Zero sympathy whatsoever for such a
poor example of the type of person we would expect to have in office.
You aren't aware of your own self and your own marriage how do you possibly think you could be the type of person anyone would think can be aware of the country and what's required to run it.
Quit thinking you have a future anywhere other than answering phones at your gay husband's "prayer" office.

  6. I'm already excited for the inevitable HBO film based on the book.

  7. Does this book only focus on her campaign ?

What about all those nights where she cried “God, I’m a loser“, “Oh God, why do I turn my homosexual husband off ?“

There should be a #meme about this.

  10. She knows that she turns people off and yet doesn't change at all...the definition of insanity has a picture of her as an example right next to it.

  11. what is funny is that this is one of the few true statements Ms. Bachman spewed from her mouth......she is a loser to me

  12. Please, finally put her away - and duct-tape her mouth. Feed her intravenously, but enough is enough. She is living proof that there is no god and that chaos rules!!

  15. "God, I'm a loser."

That's an unusual level of self-awareness for you, Michelle!

  16. But wait - Isn't God your bestie, Michelle? The all powerful creator of the known universe - How could you possibly lose with him behind you?

Maybe you wouldn't be such a loser if you stopped believing some ancient Middle Eastern myths are literal facts.

  17. Truer words have never been spoken. It's a shame her only legislative act was a gay with hunt (look no farther than your closet honey), and government obstructionism. A vile, evil loser indeed.

  18. Candidates are usually anything but candid, so this is probably a better picture of how she really thinks in one sentence than we've gotten before.

The disconnect between logic and rhetoric is often so great it's really a slap in the face to the general public, but they often deserve it. MB was one of about five candidates who tried to claim that God was mandating their election. If God was mandating her election, why would she even need to campaign? He could easily arrange her victory without any participation on her part at all. Did anyone voting really believe her, or were the platitudes just necessary boilerplate?

  19. Hey, she's not dead yet. There's still time for her to visit Towleroad and change her position on SSM. Not holding my breath, though!
