‘Duck Dynasty’ Stars to Headline Fox News’ ‘All-American New Years Eve’ Broadcast

Willie & Korie Robertson

Never a channel to shy away from wading into the culture wars, Fox News has announced that it will be joined by "Duck Dynasty" stars Willie and Korie Robertson, son and daughter-in-law of controversial patriarch Phil Robertson. The duo will be a part of the channel's 'All-American New Years Eve' broadcast celebration hosted by Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Bill Hemmer.

The AP reports that the couple will appear live from Steamboat Springs, Colorado to discuss Phil Robertson's suspension and the controversy in general surrounding his now infamous anti-gay, racist comments made in a GQ article earlier this month.

Last week, after A&E reinstated Phil on the hit reality show, Willie sent out this tweet of support: "Back to work!! So proud of all the fans of the show and family. Ole Phil may be a little crude but his heart is good. He's the Real Deal!"

The show’s the highest rated on cable.

It, the profit for A&E, the Robertson clan, their die hard theocratic supporters, and Fox News do not just “go away”, nor will they any time soon.

Some biblically hypocritical bigots you just can’t change, ever. You don’t waste energy and/or patience trying – you DO in the court systems, however, where it counts. There, we’re WINNING.

The culture itself will take decades (if not more), but the nationwide ruling post Prop-8/DOMA is probably just a couple years away and ENDA hopefully not that far behind.

Perspective, please. The statements in defense of the community were made and now it’d be great to MOVE. ON.

What I love about this whole affair is that everything that this family does and says from now on is going to be under a microscope. “Ole Phil” might have been able to get away with it once, but repeated anti-gay and racist remarks is going to get him and his inbred clan in a heap o’ trouble, boy, and Saint Sarah Palin ain’t gonna be able to dig his ass out then. And I wonder how many gay and African-American employees are just dying to release a video of outtakes from the show to the Internet? I’ll bet “Ole Phil” has said a lot worse during filming that was cut from the show. These people honestly believe that everyone who watches their show admires and loves them, while the people I know who watch the show do so because they think “Ole Phil” and his clan (Klan?) are of bunch of redneck assholes who are good for a laugh, and I’m pretty sure a large percentage of their audience feels the same way. Does anyone believe that people actually admire the women on the “Real Housewives” shows on Bravo? They laugh at those sorry excuses for human beings, and they most certainly do at the Robertson “Duckwads”.
One more thing: if they do keep doing the same thing, don’t go after A&E, go after the parent company – Disney.

Okay, I know that some of the bitter, pathetic queens around here who don’t like Tank are going to hate this, but I have to say it, anyway. That person on the right is not a woman: that is a post-op transsexualified person. I’ve done some informal studies in physiogonomy or whatever it it called, and that person’s face is definitely male in both its structure and its many details. Wow; this needs to be reported in the mainstream media and soon! And just think, Tank was the one who discovered the truth…

I know it’s FOX, but I gotta say, I’m so disappointed that they & I guess America is so willing to embrace this guy’s racism.

I guess these people must dislike the uppity gays so much that they forget how really objectionable this guy’s comments have been about black people.

A simple google search for images of “Willie Robertson before beard” shows just how phony their redneck personas are. I especially like the pics of he and his brothers from various golf outings. Because nothing says “backwoods hicks” like four yuppies in golf shorts.

Can one think of a lamer way to celebrate the new year than watching fox news all evening? Anyway, I doubt Willie is as nutty as his father, though he’ll stick by him out of loyalty.

  7. Reality says

Just a bunch of white trash sitting around slapping each other’s backs, excited about how racist and homophobic they are … Fox News will be asking Duck Dynasty hillbillies to be their next political commentators, right next to hillbilly Sarah Palin
