Gay People Can Begin Marrying in England and Wales on March 29

The marriage equality law in England and Wales will take effect on March 29, 2014, the BBC reports:

Initially it was thought the first same-sex marriage in England and Wales would not take place until the summer. Couples wishing to be among the first to marry will need to give formal notice of their intention to marry on 13 March. It comes after the government's controversial legislation on the issue received Royal Assent in July. The Conservative, Labour and Liberal Democrat leaderships all backed the proposals.

  1. About effing time! God the government likes to drag its feet just because a few forms had to be redesigned.

  2. I'm looking to expatriate. I'm young, hung and reasonably easy to get along with. So, any British lads in the market for a mail-order groom, get at me.

  5. FFS, if any of these lads read your comments on Towleroad they aren't going to want to marry you.

  6. @ "FFS, if any of these lads read your comments on Towleroad they aren't going to want to marry you."

Rick, you don't have anything better to do this afternoon than to post nasty comments under Kiwi's posting name?

    Go get some lunch.

  10. Who wants this and for what reason? I'm gay & would happily get married on the basis I have same married rights as any heterosexual - that's only fair, but church etc? Why? Most church marriages end in divorce, a lot of people are single parents also. The same civil rights should be worldwide, religious choices are individual on faith but should still be obedient to civil law.

I think many gay's seem blind to the fact that we were illegal in western society to relatively recently, organised religion has been around hundreds of years, gay rights hasn't & can be overturned in the bat of a Russian eyelash. Or any other country where teenagers are hung on suspicion they had a relationship. The fight isn't a ring on your finger.

Man up & stop the killing of men throughout the world because they're gay, that is a true response & if you respect that then it surely shouldn't stop you respecting those already murdered simply for their sexuality.

  11. LOL! Oh, Rick. It's too bad you're not British, cuz I'd love to marry you.

    You're SO masculine, after all.
