Olympic Facts to Bend Your Brain: VIDEO

The dry-erase board educators over at ASAPScience are gearing up for the Olympic season with a short special series on some "Amazing Olympic Facts." The first one covers the history of placement and medals, the meaning of the colors of the rings, the etymology of "gymnasium", and more interesting factoids.

The second looks at how bodies of Olympians have changed over the years.

The third will give you the odds of YOU becoming an Olympian.

For something Olympics-related which has nothing to do with arrests, oppression, corruption, failing infrastructure, or Putin, check it out, AFTER THE JUMP...

  2. They teamed up with the CBC here in Canada for these. They air on the television during the Olympics.

  4. The current bronze medal is made of an alloy of copper and tin. Soooo, the bronze medal is . . . made of bronze? Real insightful.

  5. The Winter Olympics: where Canadians go to remind others they still exist!

I'd like to see jousting added to the summer games and ice sailing added to the winter games.

  6. The IOC failed us, as did the sponsors. As a group, gay people should refuse to watch the Olympics (these and future ones) and refuse to patronize the global sponsors (none of whom have spoken out, for fear of losing $$$).

Human rights are not for sale and we should not be lending any support (even tacit support like posting these videos) to the crooked cabal known as the Olympic movement. It's not about the athletes anymore, it's all about the money! Shame on the IOC and the global sponsors for throwing gay people under the bus!
