Bigoted Oklahoma Restaurant Owner's Online Pages Overrun With Trolls And 1-Star Reviews

Gary's Chicaros Yelp Page
A few days ago Gary's Chicaros restaurant became a common name as word spread like wildfire about the grossly bigoted owner Gary James and his policies against serving ethnic minorities, the disabled, the unemployed, and, of course, the gays.

JamesDespite what occurs in some of the darker corners online, the Internet collectively doesn't appreciate a bigot and its denizens have descended upon both the restaurant's Facebook page and Yelp page with 1-star reviews, re-branding the establishment as a gay bar complete with photos of go-go boys and drag queens, and satirical reviews like:

Gary is such a sweet piece of man meat. Put him on a plate and I would just eat it up. This is really the best black gay bar in town.
The food is terrible, but oh the service you can get from Gary if you know what I mean.
The bathrooms, or what I like to call the playground is simply not to be missed.
Gary, you are truly the wind beneath my wings, oh and you might catch me there on Tuesdays Drag show singing that song!

Welcome to the Internet, Mr. James. You will be very uncomfortable here.

  2. What's that expression? Karma is a bad thing or something like that?

These are funny and so richly deserved. I assume the restaurant will soon be removed from Yelp.

  3. Looks like the Facebook page actually belongs to the Enid LGBT Coalition, but still fun stuff.

  4. Unless clearly satirical, the commentators could be sued for defamation. There are several cases of doctors suing people on Yelp over bad reviews.

  5. There was a restaurant near me that sued for a bad Yelp review.

  6. Much of the reaction Online to Gary's ugly bigotry seems childish.

  7. Is anyone else getting audio ads playing on the site but no ad to mute? It's happening all the time. The site is already so overloaded with cookies and ads it's ridiculous, but now I can't find where the mystery audio ads are coming from! Maddening and making me stop reading the site. Boo.

  8. Funny stuff, but you know he couldn't care less. He's probably getting more business from the attention.

  12. Why did everyone give him press in the first place?..Stop making stupid famous...

  13. In order to shine a light on ignorance, stupid people have to be made famous or rather infamous.

  14. Fun stuff.

  15. Yes, as someone pointed out here, this isn't new and he was given press over 5 years ago - if anything he has a built in clientele and expanded his business. Have you see his "restaurant"? It looks like a metal warehouse from the outside, I doubt glowing reviews would have helped.

  16. The library is officially open and the rainbow reading room is packed to the rafters. Welcome, Hunties!

  17. If the state of Oklahoma had any sense of morality, they would shut his business down.

    I did say 'if'......

What a backward state (like too many others)....

  18. TonyJazz the big cities like Tulsa and OKC are not like this but sadly the small towns are.. Being in the middle of the US in a small town that hardly anyone goes to much less someone of color or different orientation it just fosters and fester this kind of attitude.. But in Oklahoma City we have a large wonderful gay community.
