  6. I watched this last night and it as both captivating and hilarious. Manbot like Pussy(riot)!

  7. They're women....not girls.

  8. I've never seen Colbert happier to be out-Colbert-ed by a guest. Just beautiful.

  9. @Joe you are right and I stand corrected. I know little about Pussy Riot story and after reading more I realized my faux pas and stand corrected in that these women are great!

  10. Self promoting talentless azzholes. As a gay man, I'm sick of being the latest "in thing" for stupid white chicks.

  11. They are absolutely brilliant, and Mario, you're only showing your own ignorance by calling them "stupid." They are anything but.

  12. Loved it! These women are not only level headed and strong, but they are also bright and VERY funny!

  13. Their responses, delivered deadpan, were completely brilliant. You could tell Colbert was relishing every minute of it--they were a true match for him, a rarity even among his English-speaking guests.

  14. As always, when Colbert is really on it, he gives John Stewart a run For the money.

As a gay man, Mario, I can't even begin to imagine the size of the stick up your ass that you woke up with today. These women were absolutely terrific, and they are fighting for YOU. Maybe you should thank Maggie Gallagher or Phyllis schlafley for making your life better today.

  15. Mario what planet re you from? These courageous women stood up to a brutal dictator, and a repressive regime with more dignity and conviction than you can even fathom. You might do well to learn who is worthy of respect in this world. There where also many, many people (even straight women),that paid it forward in blood, so that a ignorant twit like yourself could call yourself Gay. Rather than commenting on blogs you might want to spend your time learning about it.

  16. These woman are the best hope for Russia. All social change requires fearlessness, brashness and personal courage. These women have more than most. I wonder where the third member of Pussy Riot, ‎Yekaterina Samutsevich was?

    Posted by: StevyD | Feb 5, 2014 12:55:16 PM

  17. That was awesome and these women are awesome. To come out of prison after being sent there unjustly and remain upbeat and defiant is amazing and inspiring to me.

    Posted by: SpaceCadet | Feb 5, 2014 1:09:33 PM

  18. @STEVYD — my thoughts exactly. The third member is still in prison. This may be why these two women are treading a bit lightly.

Mario has to update himself with recent Russian history to understand on what a limb these two have placed themselves on, and what serious responsibility they've taken on. True, real activists. Americans couldn't begin to understand.

  19. @Tinkerbelle: Yekaterina Samutsevich isn't still in prison. She was released on a suspended sentence while the other two were still in prison. Also, Pussy Riot is a loose collective with many members, not just three.

I agree, however, that Nadya Tolokonnikova and Masha Alyokhina are true activists. They have consistently refused to back down or give up their integrity. And they're smart, funny yet serious performers, as they showed on Colbert last night.

  20. Sometimes we tend to think of a foreign culture and society IS what the government shows us post filtration. However, we must always remember they may be a LOT more like us than their government would like us to realize.

  21. We are all Pussy Riot!!

    I. Love. These. Ladies!!

(And, even as gay as I am---and I'm *very* gay---I can't stop looking at Nadya's face. I think she is *so* beautiful.)

    Posted by: peterparker | Feb 5, 2014 3:58:48 PM

  22. So fierce! I hope these young ladies haunt Putin's dreams.

  23. Why do gay men keep worshipping females like Pussy Riot? Start having male idols, guys.

    Posted by: joe | Feb 5, 2014 9:13:49 PM

  24. Peter Parker,

Oh, shut up, you female-lover. What have Pussy Riot ever done for gay men?

    Posted by: joe | Feb 5, 2014 9:18:33 PM

  25. Why do all female pop performers have to be "amazing"? What have they done that's "amazing"?
