AFA’s Bryan Fischer: There is a Reason God Hasn't Killed Bill Maher — VIDEO

Screen Shot 2014-03-18 at 11.07.04 AM

Bill Maher has made a lucrative career out of pointing out the flaws of religious dogma, but last week's episode of Real Time may take the cake for the most epic anti-religious rant he's delivered yet.

Screen Shot 2014-03-18 at 11.08.05 AMOn his "New Rules" segment Friday, Maher called God a "psychotic mass murderer" and declared that the U.S. is a "stupid country" because 60% of Americans believe the Bible's story of Noah and the Ark to be literally true. He went on to criticize conservatives for complaining about restrictions and regulations while voluntarily inventing religious rules. Joked Maher: "Isn't life hard enough without making shit up out of thin air to fuck with yourself?"

Needless to say, this didn't sit well with American Family Association spokeshater Bryan Fisher, who dedicated a segment of his radio show on Monday defending the story of Noah's Ark and explaining why God hasn't struck down Maher yet.

Said Fisher:

God has given [Maher] that gift, the gift of free will, the gift of judgment, the gift of discernment, this enormously precious gift of being able to make decisions for our own lives. And so now Bill Maher is using that for profane and blasphemous purposes. There’s absolutely only one reason why Bill Maher draws another single breath and that is because God is merciful, God is compassionate…why does God allow Bill Maher to go on these blasphemous rants? Because he is waiting for Bill Maher to come to the place of repentance.

I have a feeling God might be waiting on that for a while...

  1. I somehow read 'spokeshater' as 'spokesphincter'. I think we should start referring to Bryan Fischer as the AFA's Spokesphincter In Charge.

  3. They always say that... "god gave man free will".

If god gave man free will, why does religion spend so much time trying to take that free will away?

  5. At least SOMEONE has the cajones(balls) to call out these holy hypocrites.
Bill Maher is a GAWD to those who appreciate the TRUTH instead of fantasy stories repeated by these certified lunatics and nut jobs. :)

  6. I thought it was the Devil that gave Humanity free will, that God wanted us stupid and obedient.

  7. Indeed Mike, exactly my first thought reading that dribble. The answer is because no one calls them in it, or if they do it gets edited out.

  9. Bryan Fishcer and his ilk never realize that the people they are talking about are themselves. They transfer their hatred of themselves to other people--such a disconnect. Psychotic people.

  10. "60% of Americans believe the Bible's story of Noah and the Ark to be literally true."

Is that really the case? If so, we are really on average extremely stupid.

  11. The real reason that god hasn't struck down Bill Maher is because it is a figment of their imagination and created by man to explain how nature works. Pretty simple really.

  12. You mean all those babies he killed in the flood Bill mentioned had their chance but didn't repent?

    Posted by: Michaelandfred | Mar 18, 2014 3:09:56 PM

  13. @Joel: The 60% figure is from an ABC poll, but it's in line with other polls. ( see the link).

So yes, on this matter at least, the U.S. is phenomenally stupid.

  14. I fid really amazing the literal interpretations of the Bible. I studied in a catholic school, and they absolutely never take the stories literaly. They always say that the stories were mere metaphors to make easy to comprehend the moral for people who (at least most of them) didn't know how to write or read.
Of course they didn't have any problem with evolution.

The only way religion could survive is with flexibility (and it's not that difficult to do) because other way it became laughable and only apt for fanatics

  15. God doesn't take Bill Maher out because He loves the way Bill straightens out the mess men have made of the Bible by mis-reading it, mis-translating it, mis-interpreting it and by grossly mis-applying it. God is disgusted with literal fundamentalism. As well as the Baptists...and Bryan Fischer.

  16. Meanwhile, God did not grant the same gifts of "...the gift of judgment, the gift of discernment, this enormously precious gift of being able to make decisions for our own lives..." to Bryan Fischer.

  18. Dear Bryan,
I owe you one. Even though I'm God Almighty I do have need of serious intellectual humans like you to explain my ways and my reasons for my actions and inactions.

"The Flood" may not have been my most original idea, but it has animals, children, a disaster, survival and of course a giant ship. I thought it was a classic - all you could need movie material.

I realize that you are busy but could you get around to explaining all the burnings of the old women in the Alps and Pyranees (known as witches), the Albigensians, the Cathars, Jews the heretics and the reforming Protestants and others by the Dominicans.

People don't seem to understand me or the necessity for the Crusades to exterminate the Infidels.
But you Bryan are the One; you will explain the works of God to man.
    Thank you,
    Signed :
