Joy Behar Roasts Chris Christie - 'You're Toast': VIDEO

Behar

Video has emerged of the April 1 roast of former New Jersey Governor Brendan Byrne attended by Chris Christie, in which many of the speakers uncomfortably rattled the governor over the Bridgegate scandal. Among them was Joy Behar, who stuck the knives in.

New Yorker writer Ryan Lizza described the roast:

Joy Behar, the former co-host of “The View,” was even more pointed. “When I first heard that he was accused of blocking off three lanes on the bridge, I said, ‘What the hell is he doing, standing in the middle of the bridge?” After another barb, Christie interrupted her. “This is a Byrne roast,” he said. He stood up and tried to grab her notes. The audience laughed awkwardly. “Stop bullying me,” Behar said as he sat down. Christie said something out of earshot and Behar responded, “Why don’t you get up here at the microphone instead of being such a coward?” Christie stood up again and moved in front of the lectern as Behar retreated.  “At least I don’t get paid for this,” he said.

Christie sat down and Behar continued, though she was noticeably rattled. “I really don’t know about the Presidency,” she said. “Let me put it to you this way, in a way that you’d appreciate: You’re toast.”

Watch it, AFTER THE JUMP...

  2. Gov Krispy Kreme is a bully. Shocker.

  3. Christie doesn't seem to get the concept of a roast, in which not only the "honoree" gets roasted, but anyone in the room is fair game. I'm surprised that no one on his staff cared to google video of Comedy Central roasts for him.

  4. There are some words that should not be put in the same sentence. The imagery is just too mind boggling. Christie, and Roast are two such words.

  8. Chris Krispy is a known bully. He is the ultimate wiseguy character interpreted in movies and series throughout the years.

He might look and act like a cool and funny endearing guy at times, but get in his way, or simply disagree with him, and you get the big mafioso bully from the Shore that he is at heart. You can watch his bullying on TMZ when someone teased him once in front of the cameras. He put Tony Soprano to shame!

  10. Brenden Byrne is 90 and they roasted him? Does that seem like in poor taste to you?

  13. Sickening Joy, really sickening.
You know he's guilty and a scumbag,
don't bother with him. If you're going to
call him out, really do it Rachael Maddow style.

  14. Anon: It was Byrne's wife's idea for the roast. So you can put the blame right on her.
