Duck Dynasty Star Calls Phil Robertson a ‘21st Century Prophet’ at Anti-gay Hate Conference

Alan robertson

At a conference earlier this week sponsored by the anti-gay hate group Family Research Council, Duck Dynasty star Alan Robertson praised his father Phil Robertson as a ‘21st century prophet’ for his comments in December comparing homosexuality to bestiality and saying homosexual sinners were going to hell like terrorists, prostitutes, and drunks.

The Christian Post reports:

Alan, a guest speaker at the Family Research Council's "Watchmen on the Wall 2014" event on Thursday, addressed a crowd of hundreds of pastors to encourage them to continue preaching the Gospel without compromise – much like his family is known to do on their show.

"My dad has the heart and mindset of a prophet and is most compared to John the Baptist … for speaking the truth in a culture that isn't prepared to hear truth," Alan said. "That doesn't change my dad's view at all. Prophets tend not to care about their public image. They tend to talk about their judgment as if it's real and they speak what God gives them to speak ... so he is, in that sense, a 21st century prophet."

In an Easter Sunday sermon last month, Phil Robertson blasted the media for scolding him about his anti-gay remarks, accused them of being ignorant of the Bible, and reiterated what he said about gays.

You can watch Alan’s full speech at the FRC conference (if you’re so inclined) here

  1. I hope whoever airs this show takes notice and takes them off the air.

  4. Did he clean up and take a bath or isn't he on the show? I don't know, I've only seen pictures of the clan.

When are these RW "christian" moralists going to realize that 1)marriage equality is moving faster than they can find a bar of soap and 2)"homosexuals" are here to stay. They can blather on all they want. We're not going away and quoting from the Bible doesn't help your cause it only makes you more of a bigot than you already are.

They should all pile in a bus with Palin, Huckabee, Perkins, Brown and all the other scumbags and re-enact the driving off a cliff scene from Thelma and Louise.

  5. This ISN'T news. This is business-as-usual. If he had said something other than this -- that would have been news.

  6. The funny thing is that the righties don't realize that the Duck Dynasty guys are playing them for fools. These guys are country club assholes playing characters for profit and fun.

  7. Wait, so now people with addiction problems are going to hell too? I guess by that logic people with cancer, diabetes, heart disease, depression and obesity are also going hell too (as well as people with AIDS, of course) because you know, God commanded people to never have a disease. *sigh*

If Phil Robertson is a "Prophet" then I'm the Virgin Mary.

  9. @ Joseph L. - Don't forget poor people, illegal immigrants, terrorists (both real and invented), whistle blowers, investigative journalists, civil liberty organizations, environmentalist groups, people of other faiths and people who oppose America (its god's favorite nation)
Its a pity they weren't born in a country like Pakistan where "offending your religion" (i.e don't ever deviate from the most traditional interpretation of your religion), even in minor ways, gets you charged with blasphemy. Since everybody hearing/viewing "evidence" of blasphemy commits blasphemy you can't get a fair trail and will probably be lynched by extremists.
They'll just have to be content with wet dreams about such injustice

  11. Bucky, you may be right. I remember watching Deliverance and thinking to do talented actors figure out how to convincingly act like white trash? Well, I concluded that some of them simply come from white trash. The rest study white trash behavior by visiting some local white trash watering hole. They're not hard to fact, they're everywhere...just as the Robertson's.

  13. I'm not sure what kind of a world we live in when someone thinks folks that spout anti-gay rhetoric are prophetic?!?!? There is nothing prophetic in what Robertson said and their definition of a prophet is a very diluted one compared to the real definition..........their ignorance, stupidity and hatred are beyond the pale!

  14. Not that I'm a ~christian~ or anything, but isn't there some warning in the ~christian~ ~faith~ about FALSE PROPHETS?

Anyway, religions have lost all legitimacy. People of ~faith~ will lie choking on their last breath. The religious have nothing uniquely valuable to contribute to society.

Let them keep grinding their beloved religions into the ground. They will not be missed, and their ~gods~ don't care because they don't exist.

  15. Funny how these ignoramuses fail to notice that real "prophets" never come along to say, "Great job, guys! Yeah! Right on! 'Status quo? Way to go!'" with back-slapping for the go-along to get along crowd.

  19. Well, they have nothing to lose, the show is dammed and it will be cancelled soon.

They past their prime (like most reality shows) and now they will cash in this type of events

  21. Wait. What? "Star"? Oh, Mary, puhleeze. A star has luminescence, not the soul-sucking darkness of blathering, bible parsing cultists.

  22. So the Family Research Council is a serious organization that researches families and makes reports and conclusions that are to be taken seriously. And they pay a guy whose adult yuppie family has turned themselves into fake rednecks and cavorts for scripted edited "reality" television for money to confer wisdom at their meeting. Uh-huh.

  24. The ratings for that show have been cut in HALF since Phil spewed out his bigotry....I guess the morons think spewing further bigotry will help the ratings. LOL

  25. The last two prophets Muhammad and Joseph Smith were also founders of two new religions. This guy looks a lot like Moses. He can call himself Jesus and make it bigger than the other two.
