John Oliver Celebrates Conchita Wurst's Amazing Eurovision Win: VIDEO

On Sunday Night's Last Week with John Oliver on HBO, Oliver summed up the Eurovision Song Contest:

"Basically 37 European countries sublimate thousands of years of ethnic and religious tensions into a series of bizarre three-minute song-tastrophes."

And that's why Conchita Wurst's win is so amazing:

"Is it just me or between Conchita and Michael Sam did the whole world feel like it became a better place to live in the last 24 hours?"

And then there's Russia, where Putin minted a coin to celebrate his annexation of Crimea.

  1. Advancements in human rights, have definitely made great portions of the world a greater place to live. We are always left to question those who wish to stop human rights advancement or rewind history.

Never stop questioning those who seek to stop advancement of human rights, no matter what cover they hide behind.

  2. I'm a big fan of John Oliver. Last night was a John Oliver two-fer, besides his terrific HBO show, he was also a guest voice on "The Simpsons". :-)

  3. If Putin had a sense of humor he would have put up a Mission Accomplished banner on that boat tour of Crimea.
