The video chronicles the early days of the AIDS crisis, the rising power of the ‘gay vote,’ openly gay Representatives Gerry Studds and Barney Frank, growing visibility of LGBT families, the influence of Jerry Falwell and the Christian Right, and efforts to combat anti-sodomy state laws.

  2. These are so fascinating... and good reminders of how far we've come. Regan refusing to even acknowledge AIDS for 5 years, Carter's people saying gays were an embarrassment to the Democratic party. Mondale talking about gay rights in the Dem party platform so long ago & it didn't really even happen until the last couple of platforms.

    I'm simultaneously exhausted and inspired.
