Gary Bauer: Obama Has Created 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' For Christians: VIDEO

GaryBauerRight Wing Watch reports that Gary Bauer (right), a former presidential candidate and Family Research Council president with ties to a variety of conservative interest groups spoke at the Road to Majority summit today about President Obama's "secular" political agenda.

He began by saying that the president is "obsessed with this [gay rights agenda]," and, apparently referencing the administration's sanctions against Uganda for human rights abuses, threatening to drop aid to "third-world countries...if they don't adopt his views."

He later raged on: "He's repealed 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' for homosexuals and replaced it with 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' for Christians!"

The resounding finish? "If Obama succeeds in turning us into a secular, humanist nation, ripping us out of our Judeo-Christian roots, then the country, the republic will be destroyed."

  2. The creep who has spent the last 30 YEARS as a professional gay basher says someone ELSE is "obsessed with this [gay rights agenda]"?

  3. Miss Bauer, will you PLEASE sit down and shut the f*ck up?

    Thank you!

  4. finally, someone speaking out for the oppressed christian minority in the united states - oh, wait...

even a proficient speaker as president obama cannot alone be credited with changing bigoted opinions anywhere. nice try, though.

the true agenda of jesus verses what his followers have practiced and preached for hundreds of years is finally being questioned. i can see why that would be really scary for christians, and it's about time.

  5. One of my favorite New Testament verses - from Jesus Christ himself:

[Matthew 6:5-6]: "And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men....when thou prayest, enter into thy closet and when thou has shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret...."

  6. I truly wish these asshats would realize that our country was NOT FOUNDED ON JUDEO CHRISTIAN ideals... NO NO NO!

It was founded on Freedom FROM religious persecution.
And the writers of the constitution were deists and pantheists... so much for Judeo Christianism.

arghh. i just can't take it when they lie like this!

  7. Secular-humanism is far preferable to Judeo-Christian. Religion, as it has long been expressed, has not been kind to humanity. If it can change, wonderful, if not, it needs to be buried. We've grown and evolved, unlike Gary Bauer.

  8. @JOHNNY -- They don't care. Religion's entire goal is to fold as many people into the 'flock' as possible. Going public with, "well, the US was founded as a free place to practice whatever religion you want" won't fit the goals of their religious business.

  11. Gary is beginning to look like that delightfully cranky old frau who ran a German grocery in Falls Church, VA.

  12. ,,,,' a securar, humanist nation'......you should be so lucky to achieve such a lofty perfect Union !

How much better that would be than a country hanging on to its guns and bibles.

  13. By "destroying the country", he must mean by God's wrath. He is a sour loser who wants to destroy everything simply because he lost. At least he has admitted defeat. That's something.

  14. Crackpot christian hobbit.

  15. these incredible outcries and yet he has no proof. Where's the proof, Gary? At least, ironically, he acknowledges that Don't Ask, Don't Tell was not a good thing.

  16. I DID NOT WATCH THE VIDEO

  17. "...if they don't adopt his views." - Which views are those? The views that say gays have the right to pair-bond with members of the same sex and express those bonds in the same ways heterosexuals do in their respective cultures? The views that say gays have the right to get an education, a job, own property, have a bank account, access to medical care and police service, get married, etc, and live without fear of being beaten to death or have their property taken away or destroyed?! Those views?!

Thank you BCARTER3 for pointing out one of the glaring ironies here.

And what is "don't ask don't tell" for Christians? It means they're not allowed to harass and aggressively proselytize non-believers? It means they're not allowed to say "If you want to have any friends here or a career here you'd better accept anti-gay Jesus as your personal savior." Is that what what means?
And in what universe is that similar to "don't ask don't tell" for gays, who weren't harassing or aggressively recruiting anyone, but only ever made the 'mistake' of becoming visible at some point.

When Gary says "destroy this republic", what republic would that be? The deranged Christofascist one? Good riddance!

  18. I'm with you, STEVE. It reminds of one of my favorite lines in "Moonstruck" when Cher says, "She's dying, but I could still hear her big mouth."

  19. I did listen to his little rant, because it was short. I think he was "pontificating" which is funny because even the Pope has stopped doing that. And he doesn't have the hat. You really need a big hat if you're going to pontificate especially in public.

  20. Behold the Pharisees. These are the ideological descendents of the powers that killed Jesus in a book I don't follow. Still, as metaphor it's spot-on.

  21. Lord have mercy, Gary Bauer? I had totally forgotten all about her!

  22. Correction:
These are the ideological descendents of the powers that supposedly killed Jesus who didn't exist in a book I don't follow

  24. So Gary, if it were true, I'd only ask how does it feel? You like? You don't like? I don't care. I'm too busy laughing while you writhe. Welcome to the hell you have created for others.
